"I agree. I think the cavalier is an old hand, so it might be wise to learn from him while we have the opportunity. And it probably wouldn't hurt for me to see if Theor has any useful advice for a fellow swordsman, even if we do favor different styles."

"I can't help but feel I've seen that sorceress before. I can't place where or when; I just feel that she ought to be familiar to me. Perhaps it's nothing."

"Those last two certainly are unusual. I really don't know what to make of them."

[SOLDIER First]

"Maybe you should ask her, then. It couldn't hurt..."

[UXLZ]

Some of you notice shadows growing longer. It's getting later in the day, now. Night will arriving soon enough. 

[SeriousConcentrate]

"I don't know. It might just be my brain playing tricks on me. I suppose I'll wait and see if she says anything."

She looked back out the window at the slowly setting sun.

"I wonder where they will put us up for the night."

[SOLDIER First]

"I think this estate is large enough to house all of us. But..."

"I'm more used to sleeping outside, in the open..."

[SeriousConcentrate]

"I'm sure they would let you, if you wanted. I'm no stranger to sleeping on the grass, either, but I think I'll take the luxury of a bed if they offer one."

[SOLDIER First]

"I might just do that... To each their own, I guess."

[SeriousConcentrate]

"I suppose so. I'm going to head outside and make use of what light there is left to train. I'll catch up with you later."

Ash patted Inido on the shoulder as she passed him on her way out to the training yard. Once there, she drew her sword and took a few practice stabs at a burlap dummy.

[SOLDIER First]

Inido nods as Ash leaves.

He watches for a few minutes as she trains before sighing and turning away from the window.

"Now to figure out what to with myself for the next few hours... Hm..."

[Sirus]

After several hours of horseback practice, Hildebrand finally called it quits for the day. He led Anubis to a convenient stall and removed all the bulky equipment (saddle, reins, etc) from his old friend's back, then made sure that there were plenty of oats for the horse to eat before leaving.

The cavalier felt better than he had in a long time. Okay, he was still weak and pathetic, but thanks to that pegasus rider - Sam, wasn't it? - his technique had noticeably improved. He might actually be capable of a fight now!

Hildebrand approached the sword-training dummies where some of the other mercs practiced. He decided to watch for a while, thinking he might as well get in some dismounted practice when one of the targets was free.

[SeriousConcentrate]

Ash heard the man approach - not that he was being especially loud, it was more that one had to be aware of their surroundings at all times when one lived the kind of life she did - and stopped for a moment to turn to him.

"Ah. The veteran. How goes it?"

[SOLDIER First]

Inido thought for a moment and eventually decided on practicing his archery before they set out. He assured himself that it was most certainly not because the others were outside and he could impress them.

Gathering his equipment, Inido left the mansion and made his way there, the archery range being near the practice dummies.

Nocking an arrow, Inido aims it as his father taught him - inhale, aim, exhale, release.

[Sirus]

Hildebrand nodded his greeting.

: "Well enough, I suppose. It was...Ashlyssa, right? How goes your training?"

[SeriousConcentrate]

"Correct. I don't believe I caught your name...?"

Leaving it there, she turned back to the dummy.

"Fair enough I suppose, though there's only so much one can do against an immobile lump of burlap and straw."

[Sirus]

: "Ah, where are my manners...?"

: "Hildebrand Danorum, from Zadrye. And don't worry about the fact that the lump can't fight back. Just committing the moves to memory will give you a huge advantage over someone who never trains at all."
