Why are they all Legendary Observers?
« on: July 29, 2015, 08:28:27 am »

About half my dwarves are Legendary+ Observers, the military especially, but also many civilians.

I made absolutely no effort to train this. Why are they so skilled?

I always put my barracks "in my dining room". That also seems to cause every dwarf to rather quickly gain observer skill.

Anyone witnessing combat gets some training in Observer skill. For some reason sparring also counts as combat in this sense.

This can of course be exploited to train everyone in the fort into Legendary Observers; it could give dwarves more chance to escape from werebeasts and other ambushers.

That would explain it. I've got my barracks right there near the entrance, and they're always walking past it to carry butchered meat to the kitchens.
