When Dwarves Follow
« on: July 29, 2015, 12:59:06 am »

I have a habit now of checking out evil biomes with a throwaway embark to see what kind of evil weather and other shenanigans I'm in for. Then I actually embark on the place I want to in the same local square (but not reclaiming).

Which often includes caves, because I like fun. The last two times I did this, though, I noticed that all of the dwarves still alive from my throwaway embark are now present within the cave. Sometimes their title changes (saw one chap become a "chieftess"). Most of them then get butchered after embark starts, because cave fauna aren't typically very kind to dwarves.

They're listed as hostile, but won't attack me. They aren't friendly and I can't issue them orders, but there they are. And they also raise dwarven ghosts into my fortress, because why not?

Anyone else run into this?

I guess they became some kind of bandits group.

You fooled them into a suicide mission by promising them wealth, glory and a new beginning, so yeah, the pariahs probably hate you, your civ and everything you stand for, even in death. Have fun :)

Definitely going to make sure I outfit them with weapons and armor next time.

Though, sadly, they didn't follow me in my latest embark. :(

The real question is whether or not you can capture them and park them next to a butcher shop for easy fell mood access.
