The year is 2358. Humanity has grown restless, and shifted its gaze to the stars. Massive technological advances over the past century have enabled dozens of nations to assemble fleets of starships. Most important, however, is the advent of the faster-than-light engine. The most advanced nations have hundreds upon hundreds of military starships, and humanity has begun to spread to distant planets. Despite this, few signs of intelligent extraterrestrial life have yet been discovered. The galaxy is at peace. You are a new recruit of the United States Star Force. Aptitude tests have shown you to be best-fitted as a sublight combat pilot. Thus, you have been shipped from Earth to an off-world military facility at a classified location, along with nearly five hundred other potential pilots. Over a period of a few weeks, this number will be cut to just over one hundred, and the second phase of training will begin. Assuming you don't wash out, you'll be assigned to serve aboard a USSC starship and travel the galaxy.
Most important actions will involve rolling 1d6.
"But, Dampe," I can hear you bleating, "Doesn't make this an RTD? You know we have a place for those, right?"
Not exactly. (And, yes, I know we have an RTD sub-forum. If this was just an RTD, I would have posted it there.)
While the main gameplay involves 1d6, this is mainly because using a skill-based system for rolls doesn't really seem like the best thing here. Hit and damage calculation, however, will use d100 rolls which correspond to various subsystems on a starfighter. Along with that, there's some other aspects of the game that wouldn't really fit in an RTD at all. So, it's not really the sort of forum game that would fit in the RTD sub-forum. Anyways, notes on character creation are below.
Since your character is a pilot, you of course will have a nickname/callsign.
Let me make one thing abundantly clear: like pilots today, you do not get to pick your callsign.
I repeat: You. Do. Not. Get. To. Pick. Your. Callsign.
Now that we have that out of the way, here's the character sheet.
