Company of Heroes, an RTS, is my go to when I want thunderous 'splosions. When you mass up 3+ Howitzers as the Americans and a line of anti-tank guns, the noise is glorious.
I did that screenshot by mistake... and god is it glorious :D
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

On the other hand, when i want cannon fire i insall up age of sail 2 cities of abandonned ship with a couple of mod and the game become glorious! Or if i feel more eye candy/arcadish i go assassin creed black flag.
That looks like the face of a psycho. 'You see, Carl, if you don't do what I say bad things will happen. And we don't want that to happen, do we Carl?'

DF doesn't mold players into its image - DF merely selects those who were always ready for DF.

Minecraft UI is very simple. There's only so many ways you can implement "simple" without copying something. We also gonna complain that it uses WASD?

I swear I took almost that exact same screen shot at some point while playing CoH.

On a less conventional type of cannon, but still artillery based game, the Worms serie (or the excellent open source clone of it, Hedgewars ) features a lots of weapon to destroy things in massive noisy explosion chains .

I particularly appreciate Hedgewars' watermelons (or Worms' banana bomb), such doomsday-level of weaponry, always satisfying to throw some.

Men of War: Assault Squad 2 has the ultimate explosions of explosions as far as I know.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

There's also a nuclear explosion, but it'll lag the shit out of the editor...

Yes, MOW is rather spectacular. The nuclear explosion basically just destroys the whole map.

(also infantry-only fights are incredibly fun, though for true scale you have to leave it on the highest point setting and just avoid using vehicles)

My thread, so I'm allowed to necro this, right?

Anyone got newer suggestions?

Man of War? Haven't played but I think it's got cannons.

Also Assassin's Creed 4 Black Flag has ship mounted cannons.

Fallout 4, build up those minutemen cannons and fling those smoke grenades and get clear. I cleared a Raider camp from a distance without even unlocking the map marker just by throwing one of these right into the center of the camp while stealthed. Got clear and watched the carnage.

I'll think of some more i hope but modded fallout 4 artillery is awe inspiring.

Ah yes, the insatiable lust of corn and rice, clearly two of the most erotic foods.

I remember the Cybran in Supreme Commander 1 having some pretty thunderous big artillery.

Like it made your screen shake every time it fired and launched death across the entire map level of thunderous.

This is more what I'm hoping for.  A lot of games, like Fallout 4, have an artillery option, but it's just one instance and very situational.  In Supreme Commander 1, especially that DLC, the factions had some monstrous artillery that could be fired constantly.  The Cybran got a rotary artillery cannon, the EDF-people got a giant thump gun.

If you're after really meaty guns on s smaller scale, Black is anFPS set in a dystopian future where aliens have replaced all guns with camouflaged heavy bolters.
