Extracts from the scribblings of an alchemist
This is most......strange.
This woman, truly she must be mad.
Live like elves?
Harm no trees?
Wield no picks?
As an... admirer of the more... potent properties of certain plants, I have come to respect the lethality of nature.
But to downright bow to it?
To praise it as a force?
We are to die in this blasted jungle, with this mad woman.
She almost attacked Ral when he tried to dismantle the wagon. It shall be left for now, to our detriment.
For now Ral has ordered us to carry the food into the cave, a welcome sight after days of blasted jungle and frozen streams.
Athel, though, is quite irrate at this, yelling "By Vucar's orders, we must not delve the earth! The force is here to protect us, you must merely follow it!"
She will die in the cold tonight.
Extract from the Force Prophet's Monologues:
Fools.
I told them to avoid the depths, for the beasts of the deep do not adhere to the peace of nature.
The elk birds tore them to shreds, and wounded me when I tried to save a few barrels of giraffe.
Good riddance.
Those heretics questioned my authority.
I quite appropriately named the beast that so helpfully cemented my leadership here.
I have ordered the other worthless lumps of beard to use the stone blocks our fire-worshiping witch-queen has sent with us.
They at least seem to be able to erect a wall and workshops for food processing.
The remaining alchemist should start gathering plants soon, I ordered it after all.
26th of GraniteUpon inspecting the new food storage and workplaces, I noticed two interesting things:
There are a family of adorable badgers on the other side of the stream.
I suggested to the others that we feed and befriend them, but was stared at with deathly hatred.
Then I came upon one of the peasants, constructing a damned masonry shop!
Much to my amusement, he had no rock left to construct the coffins he wished to make!
Heretical traitors must rot into the earth or be eaten, such is life.
I ordered the butcher to retrieve Ral's spear.
She would have to wield it in case the beasts from below return.
One of them was trying to cross the stream earlier, and spooked the eight badgers.
We must ally with them soon.
4th SlateI estimate that the hens have laid more than a hundred eggs since we came here.
Nature is truly on our side, we will survive!
11th slateWe finished the last workshops today.
Truly, now our survival is assured.
A few of the others where bothered by the stench of the rotting corpses coming from the caves.
Such weakness must be eliminated from their minds.
23rd Slate The jungle is filled with a myriad of beautiful flowering plants.
Truly this is the highest form of existence.
I have meanwhile decreed the construction of a trade depot.
These are elven lands, and we should be prepared to receive them with all due courtesy.
Meanwhile, Helpfulhustle and two others of her kind still roam the surface.
They have given us no further trouble, but I do wonder why they do not return to their dank caverns.
27th SlateShe is becoming too bold. At least the butcher is here with her spear, that will be our only hope if these beasts attack again.
9th of FelsiteWe were awakened by the squawking of ravens this morning.
The sound has always sent a chill through my spine.
These birds...they are unnatural.
Cold and evil.
I will have to ignore them, hopefully they will move on to fouler lands.
15th FelsiteI have ordered the butcher to slaughter the water buffalo bull today.
I have less respect for domesticated animals, their minds are generally weaker than their wild bretheren.
She simply nodded solemnly and proceeded to do the deed in silence.
No wonder the mountainhome questioned her sanity.
Sociopathic, her behavior.
22nd FelsiteDid I imagine the hint of a smile on her face when she donned her new armor?
Regardless, this at least improves our position against those damned birds.
10th HematiteI oversaw the construction of a bone crossbow and bolts.
Now I will be able to defend myself.
I thank the water buffalo for it's sacrifice.
We will also craft a quiver from it's hide.
The same fate will not befall our three yaks, though.
They must first spread their progeny across these verdant soils.
15th HematiteI was just woken up by one of the dwarves.
The butcher has entered the cave.
I doubt that she will survive.
I supply her with armor, soiled by the blood of an animal, and this is how she repays me?!?
She returned, blabbering on about a cavern down deep filled with gems and water.
Usually silent, her new-found fervor is quite unsettling.
Damn her and her false dwarven gods.
I will have to keep an eye on her, lest she tempts my flock with the vices of the deep.
21st of HematiteNo one will be entering that damned cave again. I made sure of it.
16th of MalachiteThis....the alchemist.....
Am I going mad?
I just heard the fool's voice, saw a spectral form floating in the air..........
What dark forces linger in that blasted cave, if the dead come back to life??
21st MalachiteThe poor yaks, as well as some the blasted wretches I find myself living with, are constantly frightened by the spectral dwarve.
His moaning and complaining is even beginning to irk me.
How does one do away with the blasted thing?
Migrants.
Hopefully these ones are outcasts as well, I dont want any damned agents reporting to Vucar on what is transpiring in Plankbore.
The damned queen has no business with the jungle of dishes, and I aim to keep it that way.
The fisherdwarve who stumbled towards our food stockpiles first claimed some proficiency with spears, so I assigned the butcher's gear and position as defender to him.
I do hope he will not disappoint me as well.
The only other migrant was a metalsmith who brought a donkey.
His animal is of more use and value in Plankbore, the smith will probably just sit about and sulk like the rest of these idiots.
15th GalenaThe chickens fled their pasturing today.
I am not sure wheter it was the ghost or the elk birds, but this just means more work for me.
19th GalenaA flock of emu's are grazing close to our encampment.
They are far more placid than our other five neighbors.
Perhaps the elk birds have become more panicked once they realized they could not enter their cave?
