I'm surprised there isn't a topic on this incredible game yet.
Soccer meets driving once again in the long-awaited, physics-based sequel to the beloved arena classic, Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle-Cars!
A futuristic Sports-Action game, Rocket League, equips players with booster-rigged vehicles that can be crashed into balls for incredible goals or epic saves across multiple, highly-detailed arenas. Using an advanced physics system to simulate realistic interactions, Rocket League relies on mass and momentum to give players a complete sense of intuitive control in this unbelievable, high-octane re-imagining of association football.
Basically two teams (varying between 1 to 4 players each) attempt to get the ball into the opponent's goal. However, you are using an arcade-style car able to jump, double jump, 'dodge', and most importantly, boost. This allows you to
do amazing things to impress your friends or
make them laugh at you. It is a game which is simple to learn, and yet will take you months, years perhaps to master. Anyone could probably enjoy playing, either casually in unranked matches or competitively in the (currently under revision) ranked matches.
If that wasn't enough to sell you, this game has hats.
Oh now you're interested huh?
Rocket League was released earlier this month and is available for PS+ members for free, so if you have a PS4 go ahead and pick it up while you can. It is also currently
available on Steam for ~20 money. In addition, there is
cross-play between PS4 and PC so lots of people can enjoy the game even if they happen to have different systems.
Currently it is impossible to create a team cross-play, but matchmaking is working. They are Working On It™! If you are not planning on playing with friends, playing online, or just want to play against bots you're unfortunately going to be disappointed, as the singleplayer aspects of this game are lackluster. However if you have one to seven friends you will undoubtedly have a blast, especially if microphones are involved (and perhaps other things if that's your style).
A controller is highly recommended if you are playing on PC. The huge success of this game pretty much guarantees that as time goes on more and more will be added to the game, so expect the game to evolve further down the line (but hopefully not change the core mechanics that make it so enjoyable).
If enough people are interested in playing together perhaps we can set up some matches, or join up against randoms in matchmaking.
If there's anything you want to add to this OP go ahead and tell me and it will be appended.
