IC up soonish, after I get the skills and all worked on fully.
Roughly 20 years before the Convention the piece of this recently settled world was broken by the Cataclysms, which among other things sparked a nuclear war. Once things quieted down a bit in the region, with bands of survivors more-or-less back on their feet, the convention was called by an unknown figure. Those who went to the convention emerged with a treaty, forming a loose coalition of settlements now known simply as "The Coalition". By the year 100 After Convention, the other settlements of the region decided to declare war for various reasons, and the fighting that ensued drew all of you guys up into it, most as soldiers in one army or another, many for nigh-on five years. The war ended roughly a year ago, leaving you guys jobless and, in many cases, homeless. Still, its not asif you guys dont have skills, right?
More Backstory
After recovering from the Great Cataclysm (which started in roughly 2050 and ended perhaps a hundred years later) humanity, realizing its fragile hold on life, initiated Project Seed, which consisted of taking a few thousand humans, shoving them in suspended animation, and shooting them at a possibly habitable star system along with everything needed to settle down, and a set of automated systems devoted to keeping them alive. Seeder Seven, the eight seed ship launched, was sent to what is only known on earth as Target Twelve. On arrival nearly five hundred years later, the automated systems selected a world and begin to terraform it, bringing it to near-earth levels and seeding it with Terran plants and animals, before animating the human cargo.
The humans, thus settled, did what humans do best. Namely, forget all they learned about piece and started killing each other again, which eventually sparked a new cataclysm. After fighting that off for a while (although not nearly as long as the survivors of the great cataclysm did) the survivors convened a convention, where they formed a new nation. Of course, there where a number of nations or groups who did not get invited, or didnot show, and after about another century of them getting beaten into a pulp by the coalition, they decided to form their own and go and give them a taste of their own medicine. And so they did, using weapons caches dating from before the cataclysm, recently looted as radiation dissipated, tomake up for their lack of numbers. After half a decade of this both sides called it quits, and the world was restored to its status quo.
