To make airborne work you need a fast army in order to consolidate the opening they create. Right now we've got fast armor, but no trucks for carrying supplies or troops en masse to the front line. That will be necessary before we try an airborne operation. We've already got weapons they can use, like the submachinegun. I feel this is a project that could wait until we have bombers, and are in a comfortable position. That is: not on the back foot (I still don't understand how we're losing the plains).

I'm not sure either, GUNIN. I think they have an artillery advantage, apparently.

They had a Tank advantage (Our first vehicles could kill each other but theirs could invade our trenches and our armored car couldn't do it to them), and then they had the submachinegun advantage.

....And while Inovation is well and good, given they get to do two designs this turn, I'm expecting them to do one bog standard thing and then use the extra one for a boat or something, the kind of thing that keeps getting voted down when it's on it's own because we have to keep countering each other on land but now that they have two design rolls this turn...

...Well, I'm not seeing us having an option but to respond to whatever they throw at us next turn.

Thing is if smoke works out as well as I hope, then we would gain an advantage in mountains and in plains. Remember, we are only one small final push away from gaining some ground in plains. Sure, we could gain this final push for plains by creating slightly more accurate artillery, improving the spat, or fixing the radio. But these things will only affect plains. Smoke will give us an advantage in the mountains as well which will put pressure on arstozka to create mountain inovations rather than plains ones.

I vote against Airplanes, because it would be very high risk and we have a high chance of creating something completely worthless (like our flamethrower), or something so rough that it's practically useless (like our radio). And finally, I don't think inventing a reconplane is really going to give us that much of an advantage. Any advantage it could give us could be more safer gained by instead fixing the radio.

Of course, I still vote for smoke since we can then segue smoke into poison gas which will mean we have 2 turns of absolute superiority.

I'll revise my vote. Vote for smoke if it would pass, otherwise vote for the biplane.
If you vote for smoke, we will have a 3-way tie.

If they can make AP rounds a revise action I don't see why we waste a design action for smoke rounds.

Also may I remind you someone will call for grenades the next year...

We've been taking lots of conservative actions lately.  Small changes, careful designs.  And you know what?  The Arstotzkans are at our front door!  We need to get back to the old Moskurg we know and love, and its tried and tested design philosophy - making stupid decisions based on what seems coolest at the time.

And you know what stupid decision seems coolest right now?

Motha Fuckin' Biplane.

This is our first attempt at an aircraft, so we kinda need to be unabitios on what we add onto it given it will be ambitious unto itself.

Once we3 have that experience, we can start bringing in more advanced designs.
