In Moskurg people whisper, critical of the trade of such valuable technology.
CALLED IT! DAMN it feels good to be right! :D

The war in the air is quite entirely the same as it was last year. Arstotzka still gets more air-to-air and air-to-ground kills than Moskurg, and their dive bombers continue to be a big threat to T2 Breakers, SPATs, and other artillery, emplacements and vehicles.
This is fairly interesting. Apparently our DBs are actually rather useful against their vehicles. I'm not gonna say "I told you so" because I didn't and there was no indication that they were this useful before.

We're losing rather badly in the Jungle and the Mountains. We'll also be in the cities soon so we'll need better small arms. I think we all know what we need to do here.

Why don't we just design normal optics?

Normal optics for what? Generic optics like the Eagle Eye won't be as good as a dedicated optic for a dedicated sniper rifle. Actually, I'm going to add another thing to the design: an accessory rail. The sniper rifle can be used both as a..well, a sniper rifle, but it can also be used as a battle rifle. If we're lucky, it might just obsolete the Nosin.

I would say we should get some better shotgun to level the playing field with the war in the city, but then we should probably focus on shoring up our defences on the jungle and mountain sides.
Problem is, the weaknesses being exploited in those two areas are almost totally different.

Yes, we're being killed pretty heavily by sniper fire in the Mountains and we're getting "mowed down" as a battle report said by SMGs in the Jungle. That's why my Design and Revision plans are so good - because they address our biggest shortcomings in both areas.

Also, both snipers and SMGs will be useful in the cities. SMGs for close range and snipers because buildings provide good vantage points.

It tough to make interchangeable magnifications for scopes, I guess?

4x is a decent magnification, allowing it to be used well at many distances. More importantly, this is the year 1930. Scope technology just isn't very advanced at this time. Since we're making a new gun with an accessory rail and giving the scope altitude adjustment, it might be a bit overambitious to get any more magnification.

What we really need to do is quickly break into their cities and burn everything.
Ideas?

Actually, what we really need to do is keep the Mountains. If they manage to capture all of it, it might be difficult to get them out. The extra Ore only lasts for 3 turns so we can't really depend on it.

Speaking of our Ore, it isn't making any of our current designs any cheaper. What if we donate it to the US or UK for some brownie points? With the Great Depression going on they'll need it. It'll increase our international prestige since we'll be a country giving charity to a superpower. (The UK at least is a superpower. Not sure about the US.)

We need to develop general optics. Our people are better snipers, and our Mosin is a better sniper rifle fit than their leveraction, which can't be fired when prone.

More importantly, we have tanks which can actually mount the optics.

Our tanks don't need the optics. In the Jungle, fights are too close-quarters for them to be of much use. They might've been useful in the Desert but we're now fighting in cities rather than the open field.

No. I suppose there are similarities, but I'm fairly certain angry birds doesn't let me charge into a battalion of knights with a car made of circular saws.

We are getting massacred in the mountains because we lack snipers.  If we lose one more layer of mountains we are fucked.

We need a bloody sniper.  If we research the thing suggested we should get some kind of weird scope technology.

Pursuant to that, I agree with the AS-O30 suggestion.

e:  We should also probably revise the nosin for enhanced sniper-ness given the chance.

Nah, we're good. With optics, we will be sniper gods: We have real camouflage, better rifle, Patient trait and our high value targets aren't in bright silver and blue.
