Yeah, but we have supernaturally good slat armor here, and I don't feel like arguing about it. Tandem HEAT should work nicely on it.

Yeah, for officers as a mark of rank and for rear-area personnel before they had the M1 Carbine.

Anyway, can you seriously tell me than a better pistol would be a better way to spend our time than cheaper aicraft or anti-Hippo/Rhino armour, or better ammo (incendiary for our planes, tandem heat warheads to defeat slats or aerodynamics warhead for the AS-RPG28?

<citation needed>. And yes, a good pistol we don't have to worry about is better at the moment since we're fighting in the city, where close range weapons are better.

Edit: a quick google search tells me it was pretty damn widely issued, and not just to officers and rear service people. A pistol is used because it is light, easy to carry and fire, it's reloads don't add much weight to a soldier's kit, and it can still kill a guy dead if he hits someone with it. No need to discount a pistol just because it doesn't shoot walls of lead; we don't need EVERYTHING being about volume of fire.

No. I suppose there are similarities, but I'm fairly certain angry birds doesn't let me charge into a battalion of knights with a car made of circular saws.

Oh, well, I guess we're far enough ahead that we can take sub optimal decisions.

Yeah, which really sucks for that 4 times a years when a soldier have to use its pistols. Pistols weren't even issued to most infantrymen in WWII, and all the troops which need a sidearm (Artillerymen, pilots, snipers...) can just grab a AS-MC16A.

We should just obsolete that pistol.

Yeah, an SMG isn't small enough to be a sidearm unless it's the size of an Uzi...which the MC16A ISN'T.
I should post this in the main thread as well, this has been my logic for soldier equipment.

A typical soldier has a primary weapon (EG rifle), a sidearm, and whatever equipment seems reasonable (spare ammo, grenades, binoculars and such are all examples of miscellaneous equipment). The AS-MC16 is a primary weapon, using it deprives a soldier of any other rifle. Soldiers who carry machine guns, the bulky radios currently in use by both nations, and things like that are also deprived of a primary weapon and forced to rely on their sidearm. In close combat, soldiers who have a long rifle or other unsuitable gun (the MC16 is of course suitable for close combat) will use their sidearms, and sometimes have to use their sidearms instead of reloading.

Oh. That's surprisingly sidearm heavy. Then I guess it kind of make sense a bit.

Andres' tertiary vote for the pistol, which is winning so it counts.

Vote for pistol improvements, fix the jamming issue first, more accurate and lighter weight second.

I had a cool idea for next turn that might be actually practical; design a large pontoon boat that can transport at least 20 troops at a time with both fore and aft loading ramps. The fore and aft ramps are important because they are designed to be able to be linked together so, along with pilings and concrete abutments they can also double as temporary floating docks for unloading heavier equipment like tanks and armored cars. Combine this with cargo carriers requisitioned as troop carriers/support vessels we can open up an entire second front in the jungle and really squeeze them hard there; even if they beat back the beach assault they'll have a hard time stopping us from grabbing more jungle in the meantime, and if they don't beat back the landings they're pretty much screwed.

we alreay have cargo carriers without needing to requisition them.

Well, it seems pistol is winning and I can't do anything about it. go pistol. yay. bah.

Anyway. since we aren't revisioning our fighter now, next turn we should design one. Of course, we might well be in a much worse situation next turn so we will be forced into a purely reactive role to whatever happens on the ground. But at least we will have a sidearm.

I hope I am wrong and the pistol turns out to be a game changer in the jungle. Otherwise, we are going to be in a poor shape.

The Jungle terminates in a swamp rather than beach. None of our ground vehicles are designed to work in a swamp. This would only result in a crap-ton of our stuff being lost with no gain.

Glory to Arstotzka.

....oh. NVM then, since getting all our vehicles through the swamp would be too much hassle to be worth it. Was a good idea though(if there was an actual beach :P)

Fighter it is!

I'm pretty sure Sensei said we can't get different sized ammo in a revision, only by designing it.
