Incidentally, Fish, it occurs to me that while Spark represents what you could do using effectively rocks, creativity, and a bit of Narrative assistance, a good deal would be possible with far less effort in the same area.

Spark, after all, is a full Artificial General Intelligence- if not a terribly strong one -stuffed into a fairly tiny housing with an impressive array of sensing equipment. A dumber processor with simpler capabilities and a larger housing, say, man-sized, could be quite practical, though still expensive.

We're far from basic, long-term electric lighting, let alone computers. It would take a while (or a mood...) to create anything near powerful enough to run an AI from pure tech.

You are literally only capable of making transistors with magic. Modern CPUs would require you to spend decades iterating manufacture equipment.

You basically need to make a machine to make a CPU to run a machine to make a better CPU to run a machine to make a better CPU, and so on for some time. You could definitely speed it up, but still.

To put it another way, Spark works because A Wizard Did It, whereas modern CPUs are Nanomachines, Son.

If you can figure a convincing way of managing it, I won't stop you. :V

Can we make Nanomachines, Son using a machine that works because A Wizard Did it? Because it sounds like that might work. It would also be much more efficient than straight Nanomachines, Son, and possibly more compact than wizardry.
