: "We're burying a friend." Eneas stated quietly. He indicated with his hand to where the late Gareth was wrapped up in a rough burial cloth of ripped mast cloth underneath a nearby tree.

The tarvos took the scene he found as a sign he should start doing most of the work and took the shovel from Eneas so their guest and kind-of-hostage could rest.

"Digging a grave." Aenbarr said simply as he knelt down so that he could use the shovel with more ease, letting his horse half rest on the cool forest floor while he worked with his arms and made a much better pace than Eneas.

Larini turned full spider briefly to drop down. She looked quizzically at the wrapped corpse.
"Why? That's not what Bael do."

: "We bury the dead because we respect them." Eneas said plainly.

: "My father told it's one of many things that separates us from you... Monsters."

[Caellath]

"What do you think we did with our dead, then?" Aenbarr asked, his brow furrowing slightly as he continued to dig.

Hanna, deciding not to get involved in the verbal combat, helps dig the grave as well.

: "I do not know. My father never told me. But I cannot imagine that you bury your dead. At least... Not with a shovel like that." Eneas fidgeted uneasily.

: "I-It would take a very large hole for someone your size."

"But if you bury them you're trapping them. Their them bits. How is the wind meant to carry that if they're underground?"

: "I don't know the specifics... I just know we bury our dead."

[Caellath]

"It would, wouldn't it? But not respecting the dead and having different ways to deal with them are not the same." Aenbarr replied, nodding to Hanna as she arrived. "You should be careful when mentioning that kind of thing taught to you by your father, specially around non-humans. People might mistake your repeating what he said as taking it all to heart."

: "But is he not correct? It is something that separates monsters and humans. We are not the same."

Nantale gave a shrug.

"Sure, maybe you're right. Like I said, I don't really know much about ships. But it still looks like quite a bit of work and our Archsage while real smart isn't exactly the best at, well, moving things along quickly."

"Even if it does take a while, the important thing is that once its done, I will be gone, never to return. So what do you people do when you're not stabbing tourists?"

"Well since we've never had any tourists, I don't really know. But besides defending our island from potential threats, we do normal stuff. Grow food, enjoy our lives with each other, train our militia, other stuff. How about you guys? When you aren't wrecking ships, what do you do?"

"Same thing pretty much. Run drills, defend civilians from racist dipshits. Of course, we don't stab them before they prove themselves to be violent instead of just passerby. Sometimes I also write letters to my mother."
