The waves continued to rock the ship, growing increasingly more violent each time until it felt that the next would surely capsize the ship; however, they never did. Be it sheer luck of supply and human placement, the last power in the orb, or some form of divine protection, the ship did not capsize. Eventually, the waves began to subside yet no one dared venture above deck for fear the storm would suddenly start up again. Until, that is, the ship came to an abrupt stop accompanied by a loud crash; everything that wasn't bolted down was flung forward.
"Oi, what in tha hell was that?" Jack groaned from his new position on the floor.
"Actually nevermind what happened. Yellow shirt, go up there and check it out." The anointed crew member groaned something to himself before making his way above deck. There was a momentary silence before he called down.
"We're beached, Captain! No idea where we are!" If Jack was surprised he didn't show it. Without saying a word he began climbing the stairs, the passengers and rest of the crew eventually followed him up. The damage was better than expected but only on account of the expected damage being the complete destruction of the ship. The sails had torn and were now functionally useless, the hull had suffered damage from beaching and, of course, there was the matter with one of the topmasts and Gareth, who was still speared to the deck; it was an easy task to remove him with the crew present and he was placed in a casket. During the removal a pouch a gold was found and given to Eneas under the assumption it was Gareth's; there were seven gold coins inside.
Party gains 7 gold."Look," Jack addressed his passengers as the crew were gathering shovels.
"It's all well 'n good that he gets 'is ceremony, but I'm not havin' me crew carry that casket into those woods so we can bury 'im 'till I know it's safe. 'Specially not when I'm gonna need all them ta help fix up me ship.""What are you getting at?" Rydell asked coldly.
"Be quiet, I was gettin' there! Anyway, I want ya," he looked directly at Rydell,
"and yer group ta take a quick peak into tha woods, check fer imminent danger an' all that. Don't have ta take forever, just watch out fer the obvious." Rydell made to speak up again but Jack quickly continued.
"An' 'fore ya ask why I don't do it, I'll remind ya that it's me an' my crew who know 'ow ta fix me ship; our only way off this blasted place. Not ta mention that me ship needs guardin' an' someone's gotta be around ta keep these idiots in check. Though as a sign o' good will I'll give yeh one o' me crew. Oi, Lassie, come over here! Yer gonna explore with them fer a bit. Best o' luck! Gahahaha!" Before Rydell could respond, Jack walked himself back over to his crew, minus one Valerie Lebelle, and began barking orders at them.
Rydell growled.
"Well, it looks like we're stuck with reconnaissance whether we like it or not. Might as well start if we want to bury Gareth today."Map Start!
