Cyryl elected to sit, rather than stand, after his rescue. "Thanks Aenbarr, I owe you one."

"You're welcome." The Tarvos also decided on sitting - which was more akin to having his horse half lay down - since he was increasingly worried one of his hooves would make a hole on the deck if he stepped on a bad board.

"Blargh. The only nap will be the nap of death. Just... put the bug roast on my grave."

Watching  Cyryl pratfall his way overboard, she felt justified.

"See? Already people nearly died."

Eneas watched the scene with the blank expression of death.

: "...This ship will be our grave."

"We have a few people very unused to the sea, but I don't think it will happen again." He replied to Larini.

"I sure hope not." Cyryl said, leaning against the railing of the ship.

Hanna, for her part, doesn't seem to feel any significant discomfort with the sea. She approaches the captain.

"Excuse me, captain. Do you have any estimate of how long this trip will take?"

"I don't know the specifics. It took 'bout a month from Relin's port city ta get here goin' in a straight line, but we're not goin' back there. Probably be an extra week or three 'fore we make it to me base."

"Oh."

Valerie didn't really know what to say to that.

"I've never been far from Pasive, myself. What's it like in other countries?"

"Thaus is pretty much the same if you replace 'military training' with 'fending off raids from humans and monsters' depending on where you are. Belitram is filled with a bunch of human haters who are pretty out there; though, not everyone's completely nuts. It's probably the same as Sanctuary. Navim's the weirdest of them all; it feels like you're being watched as long as you're there and they'd rather fight you than take your coin. It's literally a place where the strong thrive and the weak suffer."

Valerie's tail wilted.

"My family went to Thaus. Do you think they'll be OK?"

Isaac did his best to reassure Valerie while not lying through his teeth.

"So long as they didn't settle on a border town they don't really have anything to worry about. And even if they did, a good portion of Thaus' military goes to protecting Thaus and its citizens so they should be fine."

Gareth had sat down against the railings away from the rest of the group and was staring at his hands. That boy looked just like Robert, he could swear. Or... similar. But... He winced as the memories came back. A boy in the forest, looking for his brother. A gust of wind... A dead tree falling... His attempts to try and free Robert... He shook his head, trying to shake the memories out of his head. This boy wasn't Robert. But... That didn't mean he couldn't keep an eye out for him. Right?

"I hope so. Cecile hoped they could get away from all this."

Valerie resumed cutting up the fish, more for something to do with her hands than anything.

"Cecile has a good head on her shoulders. I'm sure they'll be fine."

"I'm sure they're alright!" Peter said, hoping to reassure Valerie.

Chapter 2: Washed Ashore

The voyaged continued on for another two weeks without anything of note happening. Peter slowly learned to make himself useful in either cleaning fish or swabbing the deck, whichever was considered more important on the given day. Today was one that required swabbing the deck and, despite the growing storm clouds, Peter was up on deck with only a scant few of the crew and Jack currently above deck. The storm clouds had slowly been building over the course of the day. They appeared completely natural so no special attention was given to the clouds forming over head; but, that was the one thing it wasn't as Jack and his passengers were about to find out. The winds and rain were fiercer than they had ever been before, but it wasn't until one of the crew returned from the hold and reported that their curse repellent orb had ceased glowing that Jack knew what was happening. But it was already too late. Slightly louder than the wailing of the wind, a cracking sound could be heard from up above; one of the topmasts had snapped under the force of the wind and was hurtling towards Peter, who had looked up and froze with fear.
