The armored swordsman came to a sudden halt after descending the flight of stairs, having followed what he thought was the sound of battle there. He looked to his right and saw Rydell attempting to remount his wyvern near the corpses of the scouts and his suspicions were confirmed. He smiled viciously under his helm.

"What luck! I decide to take the scenic route home and I happen to stumble upon some mice in dire need of exterminating."


Damn, we're being beaten by monsters! And what's with this weird feeling?

However before Kain could contemplate more, the sole surviving patrol pulled Kain up onto his wyvern. "We're escaping, Sire."

"Such insolence! Put me down or I'll execute you myself!"

"If that's what it takes to secure your safety, then so be it."

Even with their leader (unwillingly) retreating the ground troops fight on, two going after Nantale and the other after Hanna.
