Your mother always told you that evil people get what they deserve. That monsters will always be slain by heroes. But evil should never be solved through evil. And a monster that slays a monster is worse than the one before. Before you even decide properly, your legs dash straight towards the three mercenaries, leaping and tackling one to the ground. You hear the rasp of blades being drawn from their scabbards.
The mercenary below you punches you square in the face and sends you airborne. You spit out blood and a tooth, watery-eyed. They give you a kick to the stomach, and another, and another, laughing all the way. You can't handle the pain anymore... until you hear a blood-curdling scream and the gush of blood.
Through a mirror of tears you see that horrible girl holding a bloody knife, and the twitching body of the mercenary below her. The two beating you up moves to attack her. She receives the same treatment as you. Crawling on the bloodstained cobble, you pick up her knife, grab one of the mercenaries' legs, and slash through a chink in the armor. He falls to the ground, cursing. Wasting no time, you bring the knife to his neck and cut it clean, your hands shaking, beads of sweat running down your head.
This is horrible.... A hand grabs your neck and lifts you off the ground. The remaining mercenary's face is contorted and twisted with fury. His stranglehold crushes you. You begin to suffocate. You think you can see the light, but the light disappears as he lets go of you. Coughing, you turn to see what he's looking at.
The corpse-monsters. The merc grabs the evil girl and begins running. Despite all she's done to you, despite how much you risked your life to save her, you give chase. You know you can't outrun him. Knife in hand, you aim for his chest. Time stills, your mind clears. Is this your elven blood at work? Instinctively, you aim for his foot; an even smaller target. But you throw anyways, meeting its mark dead-center.
The man falls, and with unnatural grace you slide to grab the red-cloaked girl as she falls, catching her in your arms. She seems to have collapsed from the shock.... You feel a bit dizzy yourself; you've never been able to do that. Still, despite your throbbing headache and jelly legs, you run for freedom.
You now control Kaviik! "W-Who are y-you?" you demand.
His answer is a bolt to the chest. Grunting, you rip it out as well. You ask who he is again. He answers with another bolt to the chest. You're paralyzed! His bolts must be enchanted.... A moment of panic flickers through your mind, thinking of some way to defeat this giant. Your moment of opportunity comes as a burning chunk of wood falls between you and him.
Summoning the vestiges of your power, you exit your body and enter one of the unliving. A temporary solution, but you must ensure your body isn't destroyed completely. The giant doesn't seem to have noticed you possessing a living corpse. He merely continues pouring bolt after bolt into your body.
