'She's twisted and  evil but maybe she can be of use now that her master is dead. I'll do something to break their grip and stab one of them as we oth bolt out of here.'

Help Red and escape with her back to our people in the woods. AKA the Elves.
((Red is religiously devoted to our Lich and her cape was originally white, but she's killed so many she's stained it red with their blood.
She is a childish psychopath who we are only helping because otherwise she's going to be sold into slavery, she is not a good companion to have if we are in any way sane.))

Your mother always told you that evil people get what they deserve. That monsters will always be slain by heroes. But evil should never be solved through evil. And a monster that slays a monster is worse than the one before. Before you even decide properly, your legs dash straight towards the three mercenaries, leaping and tackling one to the ground. You hear the rasp of blades being drawn from their scabbards.

The mercenary below you punches you square in the face and sends you airborne. You spit out blood and a tooth, watery-eyed. They give you a kick to the stomach, and another, and another, laughing all the way. You can't handle the pain anymore... until you hear a blood-curdling scream and the gush of blood.

Through a mirror of tears you see that horrible girl holding a bloody knife, and the twitching body of the mercenary below her. The two beating you up moves to attack her. She receives the same treatment as you. Crawling on the bloodstained cobble, you pick up her knife, grab one of the mercenaries' legs, and slash through a chink in the armor. He falls to the ground, cursing. Wasting no time, you bring the knife to his neck and cut it clean, your hands shaking, beads of sweat running down your head.

This is horrible.... A hand grabs your neck and lifts you off the ground. The remaining mercenary's face is contorted and twisted with fury. His stranglehold crushes you. You begin to suffocate. You think you can see the light, but the light disappears as he lets go of you. Coughing, you turn to see what he's looking at.

The corpse-monsters. The merc grabs the evil girl and begins running. Despite all she's done to you, despite how much you risked your life to save her, you give chase. You know you can't outrun him. Knife in hand, you aim for his chest. Time stills, your mind clears. Is this your elven blood at work? Instinctively, you aim for his foot; an even smaller target. But you throw anyways, meeting its mark dead-center.

The man falls, and with unnatural grace you slide to grab the red-cloaked girl as she falls, catching her in your arms. She seems to have collapsed from the shock.... You feel a bit dizzy yourself; you've never been able to do that. Still, despite your throbbing headache and jelly legs, you run for freedom.

You now control Kaviik! "W-Who are y-you?" you demand.

His answer is a bolt to the chest. Grunting, you rip it out as well. You ask who he is again. He answers with another bolt to the chest. You're paralyzed! His bolts must be enchanted.... A moment of panic flickers through your mind, thinking of some way to defeat this giant. Your moment of opportunity comes as a burning chunk of wood falls between you and him.

Summoning the vestiges of your power, you exit your body and enter one of the unliving. A temporary solution, but you must ensure your body isn't destroyed completely. The giant doesn't seem to have noticed you possessing a living corpse. He merely continues pouring bolt after bolt into your body.

Stun giant with malice. Take over body.

Failing that, attempt to crush mind with horrible truths or magical demoralization or something.

I wonder if his soul is sanctified or not.
Wait, could we just kinda lock him into a deathgrip and switch to another corpse and just dogpile him?

Suffusing mystical energies with a different body is difficult to say the least, and outright impossible if it were some lesser wizard. Nonetheless, you succeed in creating sufficient force. You unleash the bolt of malice at the black-iron clad giant, knocking the crossbow (more like a miniature ballista) out of his arm.

You extend your mind and soul, looking for an opening to possess him. Though you in your current form should be invisible to the naked eye, he seems to track where you are, staring straight into you. How? He throws a small pebble from his pouch. You realize with a start what he threw. Instinctively, you leap back into your body.

That was a close call. That wyrdstone would have rendered your soul immobile and powerless. How a brutish mercenary like him would have one, you don't know. You resort to crush his mind with horrible truths, before he pulls something else from his pouch. To your baffled dismay, you can't detect an aura around him. Nor can you pierce his memories.

"What the hell are you...." You see through the tiny slit in his otherwise fully-enclosed helm two, cold eyes. You recognize them, faintly, with a sense of dread.

"Death."

You now control Red! You sit up, head throbbing. Had you been dreaming? Had that elf boy really save you? Why? You cringe as you feel the bruises around your body. The haze of smoke chokes you, and you find it hard to keep your eyes open. You lost the boy. Master will be angry. What will he say?

"Savior...."

Trudging slowly, sounds echoing around you out of focus, you look for your savior. Amidst the corpses being devoured by corpses, amidst the smell of burning bodies, amidst the screams of the living and the cries of the dead, you find him. On the ground. With a stake clean through his heart. A giant man entombed in black-iron armor is walking away.

"I-I'm dreaming...." You watch hopefully, sure that he'll stand back up. "I'm only dreaming...." You know, deep down, you're not. Collapsing to the ground next to his body, you sob uncontrollably for what feels like forever, clutching his robes.

You inhale something you thought was smoke. You try to cough it out, but it's stuck down your throat. Run.

Frantically looking around, you feel the intense urge to escape. The unliving seem to have lost control and are coming for you. You don't know where to turn. Would you go back to the gates, find some way to scale the wall or break through the portcullis? Or take the incredibly unstable bridge?

Kaviik: Possess Red (not exactly assuming direct control, but surfing the body as a means to escape and pace with our loyal servant).

Red: Be supernaturally (but unknowingly) compelled to take the robes of your savior.

I like the development. Our body is dead (I take it?)

But we still have a soul.

A strange urge compels you to take your master's torn robes. Wrenching them from his body unceremoniously, you run. You run as fast and as far as your little legs can take you. Away from the smoke. Away from the fire. Away from the death and chaos. Your legs should give out any time now, but its as if something won't let them.

Keep... running....

You obey. It's started raining. You slip on the muddy ground, drenched in water and dirt and ash, but a supernatural will prevents you from breaking down and crying. Instead, you stand up again and keep running. The moon is high in the sky now. But you keep running, until you see a cave nearby, and a fire inside.

Cautiously, you creep into the cave, wary for its occupant. Knife at the ready, you scan the area. Nothing, except the fire in the middle, and a crude painting of a hand with an eye in the middle on the wall, and writing underneath it spelling, "We will provide."

It's... safe.... I... still have... friends....

"What friends?"

People like you.... The children... of my old allies....

"Are you... my master?"

In a sense.... I'm a shadow of him. A fragment.

You simply say, "Oh." You don't quite understand, but you remind yourself that your savior can do anything. "Well, it's raining. And I'm tired. Maybe we can stay here?"

Acceptable.... In the meanwhile, tell me about this new world. Tell me what has changed.

"Well, what do you wanna know, master?"

((Exposition time! A break from all the action and killing and fighting. Ask any questions you might have about the world and setting, and both Red and Kaviik can answer you, though both of them might be wrong or outdated in a few things.))
