That is quite... disquieting. However, I will use what Master has taught me.

Sail holds the steel bar in front of her face, examining it for any impurities.
"Controlled use of mana can achieve in mere moments what industrial process takes hours!
Truly this empire is held back only by fear."

Transmute another bar of steel, then combine the two into a walking stick.

Lefs Guamentre
Without hesitation you pick up the book, and start reading through it with great enthusiasm. The introduction of the book starts out by explaining what exactly ritual, and summoning circles are along with their purpose. You quickly learn that both are not a single cohesive diagram, but are made up of the inner ring which is the magical function itself and at least one layer of what the book refers to as safeguards. The magical function determines what the circle itself does, and the quality or profoundness of it determines what kind of bonuses it will give to the magic user making use of it. Safeguards on the other hand are a type of protection helping to prevent the user from receiving damage from anything that might go wrong with the ritual itself.

Formido
Despite your feelings about the first entry you continue to read more of the book itself as it goes into the basics of Pyromancy. It explains how Pyromancers use their mana to control the essence of fire scattered around in the air, and then manipulate that fire essence to create anything from the most basic fireball to the most high class of explosion magics or familiar creation spells. Furthermore it says that while a Pyromancer's primary asset is the attacking power of Pyromancy they are also capable of some basic defensive spells, and can make use of fire essence to create Familiars to help safeguard themselves.

Sail
You pick up a second iron bar, and begin attempting to transmute it into a bar of steel. Two failures later you're staring at a bar of iron with a slightly annoyed expression.

Hoisk Thegan
You continue reading Falgrim's Guide, but get stuck on a word for fifteen minutes resulting in very minimal progress.

Jasper Dome
As you continue reading the book begins to go into a great deal of depth about contracts with the beings you summon, and the various impacts the type of demon or monstrosity has on those contracts. Essentially whenever you form a contract with a something you summon there is a price that you must pay for their services. Faceless Shadows for instance would require a mask to be given for their services, the greater the quality of the mask then the longer they would allow their services to be used. These prices must generally be paid either when a contract is first made, or upon your first time calling forth the contract.

Celia Godfrey
You begin reading Mind and Matter as you toss the book on Magic Theory onto the pile of items. While a large portion of the early pages cover basics that you already know the book does go in depth on the fact that illusion magic's effects depend heavily on the person they're used on. Some beasts, people, or beings might be immune to Illusionry entirely while some others might have moderate resistance too it. All in all willpower, and intelligence seem to have a lot to do with the end results of Illusionry.

Sail sighs and puts the bar aside.
"Maybe my technique is off... Hmm."

Grab the Alchemy book. Flip through the stuff I already know and see what it says about shaping metal. Is there something I'm doing wrong?

"Stupid book. Stupid big words. No more reading for Hoisk."

Sit. Think about magic. Pm some spell ideas and wonder if they are possible.
Find board. Enchant with Ventus. Create the worlds first hoverboard.

"Oh, that makes sense. Hmm."

Keep reading. See if there is anything I can summon with the materials at hand. Don't actually do it, just match up what I can use with what I could feasibly summon.

Search the book for any cheap summons that are generally not likely to harm me and require an easy payment. I don't care about their power, I kind of just want a companion. After checking, infuse myself with Ventus, hopefully giving me flight.

Lefs Guamentre
You flip through the book looking for some kind of summon, but find that there are none inside of the book. The book simply covers the creation, uses, and refinement of Ritual or Summoning Circle. Taking your staff in hand you begin to write one of the magical words on your own body, but as the first line starts to etch itself on your hand a sudden pain flashes through you. With an explosive bang you feel a mass gale of wind burst from your hand followed by pain, measureless pain.

You watch with tears flowing from your eyes as your hand is ripped apart by the backlash of your failed spell before collapsing to the ground entirely unconscious.

Formido
Your progress through the book is rather slow, and by the time you're ready to throw the book in frustration at your current incomprehension of its contents you here an explosion come from the ritual room.

Sail
You snatch up the Alchemy book, and begin to flip through it as you go back over the basics looking for anything you did wrong in your two failures at trans-mutating iron to steel. By the time you've finished you've learned a few points to help you correct the flow of your Alchemical spells, but further reading is disturbed by an explosion ringing out in the ritual room.

Hoisk Thegan
You take a board from one of the shelves, and attempt to transcribe the magical word Ventus on its surface. However as you begin carving it the mana you're wielding suddenly goes on a rampage, and the board shatters into thousands of splinters as some of the mana returns to attack your body. You stumble to the ground with blood trickling from the corner of your mouth as an explosion occurs in the ritual room.

Jasper Dome
You begin flipping through the book in search of possible summons, but with the sheer number available you are quickly troubled in how to find a suitable one before the book explains one crucial point. The type of creature, or demon you summon is random unless you know or have developed a summoning ritual specifically for a being. Your studies are interrupted by a hollow boom that originates from the ritual room.

Celia Godfrey
After a minute you find a few pages that focus on the effects of large scales illusion on your magic. The book explains that a spell has to be designed to either work as a mass scale illusion spell or to have been made to be both single target, and mass scale. Aside from that there is no major difference as each individual will have to use their own will, or knowledge to really break free from an illusion. You put down the book when a loud boom comes from the ritual room.

"If you're going to investigate the Ritual room, I'll imagine you'll need this."

Toss Celia a Health Potion and go back to reading.

"That sounded bad. Let's hope Lefs is still alive in there"

Grab another Health potion and go into the Ritual room. Help however I can. With out summoning anything.

"Two of us should be enough to help Lefs. But what about you Hoisk, are you alright?"

Put down book on Pyromancy and pick up Intoductory to Magic Theory and read it instead.
