Vampire: Princes of the Eastern March (IC)
« on: July 19, 2015, 08:20:14 pm »

In the 1125th year of the Emperor's Reign, the vampires of Tervon set in motion their great plans for expansion. Bound by ties of Blood and the intrigues of the visionary Tetras Carlsson, Covenants all over the subcontinent sent their best and brightest (some would say most troublesome and idiotic) to explore the lands of the North, East and South. And once those lands had been explored, to take it for themselves and further the influence of their respective Covenants.

By foot, carriage and ship, the chosen were transported. Through dark woods and torrential storms they journeyed with little more than their closest of companions and dearest of possessions. In the last month of the year 1126, the chosen vampires had finally reached the city of Marbysk, capital of the Eastern March. Of course, as mere pawns of no great rank, their journey was not yet complete. Their destination was farther north, beyond the woods that stretched far beyond the city walls. All that they were to do in Marbysk was to recuperate, group up and collect the supplies promised to them.

Minutes after arriving in the city, agents of the Baker's Guild located each member of the expedition and directed them to the Grand Haven, the centre of vampiric society in most cities. Though somewhat confused with there being seven members of the expedition rather than the six that had been agreed upon, Virgil's documents quickly put to rest any doubts. Though normally you would have been beckoned into the Court where the Prince and his advisors would formally welcome you, it seems that there has been trouble lately and the Prince is currently indisposed. Instead the Bakers rush you through to a warehouse where your supplies await, already neatly packed onto several wagons.

Or at least, they should have been. The Bakers explain that the Prince had need of the supplies, to fight off nearby hostiles as well as establish his control of the city. Most of you, save Virgil, pick up hints in his speech that the Prince may be ensuring that no other rival attains enough power to match him. Despite this, he is honourbound to at least allow you to requisition some of your supplies and provide enough resources to establish havens for each colonist...

[Each player may now requisition resources for later use. All players have 500 Requisition Points. As an Elder, Francois may requisition 800 points worth of supplies, although this may damage relations with the Prince. Players may pool together points if desired. All players begin with a Haven Starter Kit and 500 Currency.]

Spoiler: Requisition List (click to show/hide)

Upon seeing the list and the 'costs' of each item, most of you quickly come to the understanding that the Prince probably wants your enterprise to fail.

[Players may begin posting. Asking for specific items not on the list and further explanation on what each item does can also be queried to the attending agent.]

Francois examines the list with his bright grey eyes. Even to among vampires they are unnerving. Francois's fills out his list and hands it to the attendant. He knows what he wants.

Francois knew he could request more than these upstarts. But he was not an unthankful leech like those that had come before him. When he handed the requisition list to the attendant, he gave her a second note for delivery to the the appropriate important vampire.

Francois ended this second letter with an ancient saying that was sure to turn some heads. It seems that few have uttered those words in the last centuries, a bygone tradition. He then turned towards the younger vampires and examined the other vampires.

Edit:((Cut out the dialog, it seems its a little early for that))

Donnchadh takes a long, hard look at the multitude of rather mediocre supplies laid out in front of them. He was starting to regret this expedition. No matter; was it not his job to refine the unrefined? He walks over to the various wagons, mumbling to himself.

Mardak ignores what happens around him and scurriedly writes his stuff in the sheet over a crate. He hands a sheet, the lines clumsily organizaed, but still legible.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

He then says that the rest of his requisition points should be spent in jerky, or some kind of preserved food.

Vayne mutters to herself as she is writing the list. "No... not that one... perhaps...quiet you..." Finally done arguing with herself, she hands her list.

Prologue: The Journey to the North

While lacking much of their promised equipment, due to the influence of the Prince, the expedition requisitions what they could and began their journey north. They were not alone, however. Several servitors would accompany them to their final destination, the March city of Yaroslav. These servitors were for the most part programmed to drive the wagons onward during both night and day, to speed up their arrival in the city. One however seems to have been upgraded with higher memory banks and limited sentience. Named Kyron, after a fortress in the March, the agents tell you, he is to be your guide to Yarolsav. Furthermore, he seems to have brought with him at least three more wagons, each laden with supplies.

With servitors in tow, the group began traveling up the road leading to Yaroslav, bypassing the less-traveled roads which Kyron states are infested with werewolves. Rather, Kyron guides on the caravan through a network of small towns littering the main road. While at times he seems to hang around a town conducting some activity, he always ensures that he does so with speed. His cargo noticeably lessens as time goes by.

During the journey, there have been multiple opportunities to explore the towns and converse with their residents as well as other travelers on the road. Several military patrols and supply trains have passed your own caravans many times.

It will take three weeks to reach Yaroslav. What do you do during the journey?

Virgil shops around, looking for a place that sells light armour (4 armour points or less) while Roger sees if he can makes some contacts.

During the journey, Donnchadh mainly sat in the caravan, reading some book about the specific places they were and occasionally picking up a few exotic-looking plants and stones. Maybe he even conversed with local mages or occultists to swap ideas. Perhaps the occultist they're travelling with.

Ahhh, going around towns he will never visit again. Mardak liked that. He really did. For that he could do things that would have been ill-advised to do in a place where he was supposed to make a reputation...

Mardak and his followers will be ever-vigilant for possible victims. Some poor sod walking alone in the dark? Perfect! It would be a matter of silently applying the club to the head, and performing the enthralling process, while threatening the victim with the crossbow.

Francois explores the towns looking for interesting people. The kind of people will skills he could use. The kind of people who could do great things, but are trapped by their circumstance. Francois knows these people when he sees them. He approaches these people, if he were to find some, and offer them a place in his new haven.

While not in towns, Francois discusses with Donnchadh and Mardak many occult topics. Francois, who is not as educated on the Occult, hopes to learn something from these more magus types, but mostly just enjoys the stimulating conversation.

Mardak is quite reticent about speaking to outsiders, but after some insistence he discusses with Donnchadh about ritualism, the sacrifices needed, and the like. Of course, he keeps the Seeker's own knowledge to himself, but that doens't mean that there aren't lots of things to talk about.
