Should I abolish Tokens and just give the checkpoints the ability to do things via 1d6?

As in, players choose what they want to do or get at a checkpoint, then roll 1d6 for it, 3 times. Yes.
No, let's keep tokens in.
Checkpoints should only get 1 1d6 roll to them, not 3. Otherwise, yes.

Gigantic Bigass Drill:  Can handily take care of any track hazard (wall, obstacle, other racer) in its path.  It's attached to the craft so it's not ranged, but don't let it touch you.
'Hurricane' Missile Launcher:  A throwback to his first race, this system launches multiple missiles at once, capable of targeting multiple vehicles in an area.  They're not individually very powerful, but there are a lot of them.
Missile Ammo:  Lots of missiles need lots of ammo.  Thankfully, the drill doesn't need ammo.

((Not dead. Just... slowed. My circumstances are going to slow down my posting, but it's working out better than I expected. Help running it? That would be wonderful. The basic issue at this point- well, there's two issues. One is that the turns are un-synched and I have no idea which player is on which turn number. Once the turns get re-synchronized, I shouldn't need much more help-for the preparation phase. I'm probably going to need advice on gameplay mechanics and how to balance them and whatnot...))

It has to make contact to work (it doesn't launch or anything) so unless something walks into it...

Suggestions: (this will be edited)

At each roll/turn, you/we should put 'Turn 4', or 'Turn 3'. You did this in the first post, but not afterwards. Alternatively, at the end of each turn, you could put a list of which turn everyone's on. Just use 'insert quote' from your old post, and delete the quote, and everything else besides the list.
The list can also be used to keep track of everyone's position (once they start the race), their materials, and actions, stuff like that.

Putting that stuff in the OP is also recommended.

Am currently making a list of who's turn it is.
Everyone's currently on turn 4. This will be a changing list of the turns. Gonna add stats soon.
((We're making this happen. Everyone's on turn 4... okay.))

Dunk head in the pond, make another wood engine, and double up on wood wheels.

Wow, gonna have to reroll the chassis and the battery two times? Don't make it three. *sigh*
Also roll for lightweight plate armor ( for the bike, not me).
