Is there much advice for dealing with this stuff or do I just have to get lucky?
There are cards that make the enemy discard armor cards (mostly acid mage attacks), "Hard to block" attacks (mostly Zap mage attacks), and penetrative attacks (mostly melee attacks).

This extra item that they show you for the premium member thingy is annoying. I just dropped a legendary, and if I would have been a premium member I would have dropped another legendary. ;_;
You should never look at the "you won't win this" item. It only hurts :p

Yeah, but the sound it plays when there's another valuable item is drawing the attraction. But luckily, all the items are avaliable freely anyway.

Besides, you can get a week of it for the pizza Gary gives you for some dumb cosmetic.  Totally worth.  And yeah, it's free, that item'll come up again eventually.

I finally beat the first mauve manticore 6.  Then the second mission which was dumb but not as dumb, and I don't even know what the fuck is going on in the third.

Hey, so, I've been having a bit of trouble involving armor lately, see, with what I see as lucky bullshit (I swear to god I've been encountering enemies with up to three different armor types and quite frequently they'll get three sixes or something) I keep having trouble with actually damaging enemies, up to them frequently no selling my eight damage Strong Hacks, is there much advice for dealing with this stuff or do I just have to get lucky?
So far my team consists of a Dwarf warrior, a human Mage and a Human cleric, by the way.
What level are you? My advice is to use penetrating attacks, combined with he Penetrator trait. It's more damage in the long-run. Surestrike blessings, acid attacks (including boil armor), and perplexing rays are also useful.

Has anybody done Mauve Manticore 6?  This is...  This is worse than the kobolds.  At least with the kobolds I could modify my deck.  I feel like I'm 100% at the mercy of the RNG on this one.  It's either I get the cards I need and plow through the artifacts (at least until next round where I get a bad draw and they punishing bolt me to death) or I get bad cards and it's impossible.

I know what I need to do, I need to get whorl first since he's the only one with ranged capability.  Then blackhammer, preferably at the same time.  Riptide is only melee so it'll be easy to kill him but if I focus him first whorl will blow me up.

It's just... shit man.  They also manage to have counters for most of the things you can do.  They've all got fly so all your blocking terrain doesn't keep them back, they've got purging strikes and punishing bolts to deal with your nimbus and card draw.  It's like the game is saying "fuck you for thinking there's a strategy to beat this mission.  You think you figured it out?  Fuck you, purging strike."
I honestly don't remember how I got through this. Have you checked the card hunter forums?

The most recent Mauve Manticore adventure is really fun, though,  because you get to play as some of the annoying monsters in the game, and use their incredibly op abilities on your foes. That adventure is basically a letter from Blue Manchu saying "Sorry we made these rage-inducing monsters; we know how incredibly terrible they are, so we will make better ones in the future. For now though, have fun wrecking everything with them." It is a really fun set if missions.

I forgot what the third mission was; can you describe it to me?

Wow, I've been thinking about checking this game out but this really puts me off. It's like it flips you off every once in a while if you're a free player. Yeah, you don't have to look at it, but the devs didn't have to stick it in your face.

Every free to play game does that.  it's not like it costs a lot or matters.

I'd still recommend to check it out. It's not a money grab. It's just annoying. You can get crap items you already have, too. And like I previously mentioned all the items are avaliable for everybody. BUT, the extensions/treasure hunts and so on have to be bought - I wont buy anything there (the Steam overlay doesn't work with that game (not for everyone but there are quite a lot people who have the same issue, so I can't buy anything anyway.) yet as there are a couple other games I want to get first, but Card Hunter is the game I spend the most time playing the past days and after 13 hours I have completed 13/40 of the (I think/hope) freely available missions. So there's still plenty. Just give it a try. :)

My friend really enjoyed his opening time with this, but he said late game the AI starts getting advantages you don't. I don't recall specifically his complaint, but something to the effect of you have shit cards in your hand you don't want while the AI always has solid gold to throw at you.

Is that true though or is it just poor deckbuilding and confirmation bias?  There are some examples of that but mainly in Mauve Manticore where you use premade decks.  There's a lot of missions in there where it seems like they used the chance to build your own deck to counter you.  Sometimes you counter yourself.

LIke, in the first Mauve Manticore 7 you have to fight the three living weapons.  Your cleric has contagion and a few good things to use it on like Nimbus and Accelerated thought, but then the enemy has purging strike, punishing attacks (damage based on the number of cards in your hand) and a bunch of other ways to neutralize the advantages they built into your kit.  Which is dumb.  The next one gives you lots of ranged attacks to ward off invading goblins but they all draw four or five missile blocks a turn so your ranged attacks are useless, they're just there to lower the probability of your ground control moves which are actually good.

Then the zoo mission your guys have a ton of blocks to ward off the sheer number of monsters swarming you, except they also have several dropped guard and clumsy so half the time you don't even get your blocks.  The mauve manticore missions in general feel designed to be awkward and difficult, more reliant on luck of the draw than strategy since whatever strategy you come up with, the enemy probably has a bunch of ways to counter it.

☑ “This guy's deck is CRAZY!”
☑ “My deck can't win against a deck like that”
☑ "He NEEDED precisely those two cards to win"
☑ “He topdecked the only card that could beat me”
☑ "He had the perfect cards"
☑ “There was nothing I could do”
☑ “I played that perfectly"

Could be, but this would have been about a year and a half ago.

Ah, that one. That was actually pretty fun. Take over the cage of the psi-cats, and put your front-liners at the entrance in such a way that all three of them (to spread the damage out and to use all of your attack cards) only have to face the monsters one at a time. The old guy and the kid can sit back behind them and throw knives and support, respectively.

Eh, I'd chalk that up to confirmation bias and the monsters having small decks.

I did like the zoo mission once I beat it.  I didn't use the psi-cats though, I Just pushed straight through.  The sharkbear never attacked until we got to its cage and it was easy with three guys.  Nob died though.
