Nick shrugs and walks back to the common room.

Petra has wandered to the common room at some point.

"If you did, then I'd simply get the deeds to the next place you land. You'll run out of fuel long before I run out of patience." Roshanak steps into the base, taking a good look around at everything as she follows Nick. "Still, you won't regret letting me in. I can cook, clean, do whatever you want no problem. Though figuring out the Wee might be beyond me."

Nick nods as he leads into the common room and points at area with the machine and Lillian who would have found the manual by now.
"There it is along with Lillian our little ball of sunshine. Oh yeah, the person with me is Roshanak, our new... house demon. That was a joke. She's just a demon that's been sent to us by a shadowy employer most likely."

John reappears, as he tends to do.

"And why exactly are you here? I imagine there's better things a demon could be doing then cleaning up after a bunch of kids.

Its a fucking Wii, plug all the shit in and set the TV to AV, for fuck's sake. You should know this shit by now."

"And why exactly are you here? I imagine there's better things a demon could be doing then cleaning up after a bunch of kids."

"Cleaning up after a bunch of kids is not the worse thing I've ever been ordered to do. So shut your trap, it's not like you have a better reason to stick around."

"Not like I'm here by choice; I'm a billion miles from home and the next convoy out in that direction leaves in who knows how long.

So, wait, you're under orders? I don't really see what your benefactors would get out of this, the majority of us are more or less useless."

Nick gives John a look of disbelief.

"And why aren't you out there trying to find out when the next convoy out is leaving? If you really cared that much why are you sticking around here, huh?

Yeah, I'm here under orders. You may be a bunch of kids, but you're caught in a crossfire between terrorists and aliens. A bunch of people are going to die no matter which way you look at it, and then I get to swoop in and collect their souls. It's a pretty standard job, all told."

"Yeah, I guess it would be" she fell into silence for a moment before asking "Do you miss them?"

"I-I've never been fond of my parents... I l-love them, but I certainly c-can't stand them."

"Europa. Billion miles from here. Next convoy leaves in a few months, depending on launch conditions.

But eh, fair enough. You'll get your souls, eventually, but first you'll cook us dinner. I'd like a roast."

"Fair enough. Anything you want with your roast? What about everyone else? Are they going to be eating too?"
