Lilly slumped back down to sitting,
"Maybe"

A sudden feeling of imminent dread overcame the group. Something wrong was in the air, that let people neck hair stand up, and raised their pulse.

[Adragis]

Lilian's head jerks up.
"Umm... do you feel that?"

[Kansa]

Lilly shivered slightly,
"I felt something too"

[Sanure]

Kiki speaks up, "I tasted that. I want to punch it." she doesn't look happy.

[Akroma]

About two miles away, in the nearby town, a pillar of light erupts into the evening sky. Dust begins to rotate around it, covering half the city in a storm that seems to be rotating very, very slowly, as if caught by a slow-motion cam.

Melinda stares at it dumbstruck. She doesn't seem to like that at all.

[Adragis]

Lilian stumbles outside.
"...what's that~?"

[Akroma]

It takes a few moments until the shockwave arrives at the group, rattling a few leavesm kicking up some dust but ultimately harmless.

"I've seen something similar before..."

[Adragis]

Lilian decides that now is not the best time to say sorry to Melinda.
"...what?"

"If you've seen something like that maybe you could, you know, tell us instead of staring dumbly?"

[Akroma]

Melinda lights a cigarette.

"Sometimes, when a spell requires a lot of energy, you have two options. One is to use a sacrifice. That doesn't actually have to be a person though, you just need to drain an energy attune to your ritual from something, sacrificing that something. Or you get a lot of assistants, who help you perform the ritual. This..."

She draws on the cig and exhales smoke.

"Is what happens when you need so much energy that you need assistants to perform a sacrifice."

[Adragis]

"Wait, so they are the sacrifice or they're doing the sacrifice?"

[Akroma]

"They are the ones doing the sacrifice. Basicaly what I mean is that this is what you do when you need an absurd amount of energy, so much that you can't even muster enough energy to draw it."
