Can you use Rank Up spells on Armies/Familiars/Summons as normal?

Familiars and Armies can't be ranked up- Familiars due to not being good for combat and Armies due to far too many people for your puny Rank Up spell to target. Summons can be, however.

How I envision current character interactions going:

Kaho goes to recruit the wildcards, using Napoleon's MASSIVE CHARISMA! All PCs are, of course, inspired by his majesty. They all then seek to become a massive jerk just like him, using him as an inspiration. Each day, they get closer and closer to Napoleon's character. Then, once the war is over, they are so saddened by his loss that they go crazy and believe themselves to be Napoleon. This is likely the reason why all mental wards are filled with people who believe they are Napoleon, he has simply touched each of their lives as a noble spirit in a way they can simply not forget.
