Who are our neighbors?

What kind of state are their militaries in?

Do they show any indication of favoring one side of the civil war over the other?

If our neighbors are supportive of the capitalist government, they might send material aid or try to reinstall them forcefully later, it would probably be to our advantage to know what to expect from each one ahead of time.

+1 to all... and in addition.

What is our generals' preferred military doctrine?

Guys, can someone suggest a good world map map to draw borders of fictional countries on it? I plan to use real Earth geography to have less work with terrains.

PS. Non-voting Player hat We should ask about our army and navy.

How are they equipped? Do they possess their own aircraft, or do we need to plan for having our craft doing work for them? (Particularly for the navy)

Who are our neighbors?

We have two neighbors. Tarmania is north of us and Sirroco is south of us. Tarmania is a regional power with economy much more powerful than ours. Sirroco is a relatively backwards nation and our former territory that got independence only 25 years ago in a bloody war for independence.

[ooc=geography]
You = Spain+Portugal-Islands. Revolutionary forces control northern part of the country.
Tarmania = South-Western France including Corsica + Sardinia + Balearic Islands+Sicily+Malta +Tunisia+Azores+Madeira islands + Canary islands +some colonies overseas
Sirroco = Morocco (including Western Sahara)+Algeria[/spoiler]

Quote
What kind of state are their militaries in?
Being very poor country Sirocco has outdated army, rudimentary navy but they procured some modern fighters being afraid of our bomber forces. Discipline and training of their land forces is superb.

Tarmania has cumbersome, non-motorized, heavy-artillery focused land force and we believe that their doctrines are outdated. Their navy on the other hand is one of the best navies of the world. Tonnage of their navy is eleven times larger than our own and their ships are more modern. Tarmania has no dedicated airforce branch but their navy has own airships and floatplanes.

Quote
Do they show any indication of favoring one side of the civil war over the other?
Tarmania prefers to stay out of war because they have serious diplomatic problems with other neighbors and can't risk being involved in war with us.
Sirocco is close to its own civil war and in no position to intervene in our war
Be warned that world considers capitalists to be a "legitimate government" and they will likely receive shipments of modern weapons while we have no such luxury.

Quote
What is our generals' preferred military doctrine?
Our generals believe that methodical war of attrition and destruction of enemy supply lines and infrastructure is the best way to win any kind of war.

Quote
How are they equipped? Do they possess their own aircraft, or do we need to plan for having our craft doing work for them?
After many years of neglecting our navy is in a very poor situation with most of vessels requiring extensive repair. Furthermore majority of our navy is coal powered and coal supply is very limited. We can safely say that in this war navy will be used mostly as stationary artillery guarding ports. In fact we control several cities only because cruisers, battleship and coastal batteries.

Our army got very modern artillery of all calibres and forms. Some analysts believe that our light artillery is the best in the world. Our land forces are mildly motorized with artillery tractors being common in every artillery division. Armored cars started to appear in army only few months before the war has started.
Unfortunately capitalists have a huge artillery advantage and one of your goals is to negate their advantage.

Both army and navy posses their own AA-guns but only air force possessed aircrafts. You don't have to design weapons for other branches but they may adopt anything that will be designed for airforce

Year 1589, quarter one
It is winter now. Front is stabilized. Both air-forces do sporadic bombing runs on enemy supply depots with little success and almost no losses.

Wow, we're a medieval airforce.

Seriously. Our generals don't think monoplanes are worth investing in, they fight a war of attrition on purpose, and we don't have any infrastructure to produce the things we actually have a technical edge in.

To start us off, we should definitely work toward starting RB-2 manufacturing back up. We need a good medium bomber and the capitalists don't have the specialists needed to start producing them yet. We should also see about giving the PO-2 a going over. Our generals don't like it because it's a 'civilian aircraft,' but the platform has too much potential to just let it go by the wayside. Mounting the Mosin 20mm cannon instead of a 7.62mm machine gun would make it a hell of an interceptor/ground attack craft given it's already absurdly durable construction and comparatively small profile, though we might have to do away with at least the bombs to deal with the added weight.
