They don't really seem to be that much more accurate than the other weapons, if anything they're slightly less accurate, but I'll assume you know better and I'm just blind. (Except for Crossbows, though I have no intention of using those for various reasons.)

Not the way crossbows do it. The Iron crossbow does 46 damage before DEF, if I recall correctly, to any flier.

Thanks to how Effective damage works, Crossbows excel at taking down fliers. I saw Praef's character in BMM42's game doing the best human impression of a 88m AA flak cannon I've ever seen during a mission with several fliers.

@Uxie: Effective is triple the damage.

FOE: Is that house one that can be visited for loot or does it just provide a defensive bonus? I need to know before I decide on my move.

It is worth noting that some GMs have nerfed ED on crossbows (and only crossbows) for whatever reason.

In which case it actually does a far more impressive 54. I think half the games I'm in or more made crossbows do 2X effective damage rather than 3X, but I can't remember. I'll probably be doing that.
Unless someone really wants to play with Crossbows specifically, in which case I could probably be persuaded to make it 3X. I dunno, I just don't like the builds crossbows seem to endorse.

The main problem, of course, is that crossbows are lackluster in damage; it depends on whether you want to have boatloads enemy fliers and the character shining in one of the few things they're good at happens to be bad for your campaign. A Sniper build with them does benefit in other areas from ditching Str, though.

1.3 also nerfed all Effective damage to twice the MT.

I guess there isn't really a "need", but I definitely find Crossbows highly distasteful personally. Ignoring STR encourages people to either take a crossbow-reliant build where they're basically totally useless without a crossbow, or ignore crossbows entirely since it makes the STR feel wasted.

Probably just bias, really, but I feel like ignoring STR should occur with specific weapons like the hidden gun, rather than as a whole class.
