Blood Bowl 2: More pretty carnage.
« on: July 08, 2015, 09:29:45 pm »

It looks like there's going to be a sequel to Cyanide's version of BB. All up, it looks like their modelling skills have vastly improved, and the player's movements look far more fluid.

There's also talk of a single player campaign this time, with a bit of a storyline. Heaps more random events are also alluded to, which will hopefully spice up the gameplay a little.

How true to the original TT game they're staying, I don't know. But a bit of extra stuff probably couldn't go astray, considering the easy game finding available on PC and consoles.

I'll do a proper writeup soonish (with details of what BB actually is, and all that).

Here's a few teaser trailers for now:

don't forget to mention it's only 8 teams... or apparently 10 now so long as you shell out even more money for the dlc pre-order today!

Are they exclusive to pre-orders? Because permanently gating teams behind pre-orders is exactly the kind of quality I expect from Cyanide.

Yah, it sounds like minecraft with content, you have obviously missed the point, people dont like content, they like different coloured blocks.
Seems to work fine with my copy. As soon as I loaded the human caravan came by and the world burst into fire.

I will wait 4 years to be sure Cyanide has figured out how many incrementally better versions of the same game they're going to release.

They never actually release better versions, just more versions that include races that should have been in from the start. One at a time.

Which could easily be done via DLC. But no, they want us to pay a full game's price for it all. What is Cyanide even thinking with this kind of crap.

This is the company who, on the first release of Bloodbowl, told people to burn the installation file to a CD for future use because they couldn't guarantee the longevity of the download link. Effectively saying "we cannot promise to honor your purchase in the future."

They're so fucking cheap and, even after they came to Steam, they continued on the same release scheme they'd used prior. I won't touch anything by these jokers until it's on Steam, bundled, and discounted. Don't get me wrong. I really enjoy BB and the product they produced. But they're absolute fucking morons and/or insanely greedy with how they release them.

I'm a bit miffed that the lizards are behind pre-order. At least there's plenty of elves in the base release without woodsies. Still might get it one day, when I have time for more 2-hour matches and I can purchase the full game with all teams at a reasonable price. They'd better fix the netcode though. Lag got pretty ridiculous at times with Chaos Edition.

To leave this on a positive note, Bretonnians! Even if they do seem a bit boring team (only two players?).

Will you be able to buy the other races eventually or are they pre-order only? It's weird that they make you choose between two.

Not sure. It'd be dumb to have them locked forever for everyone else though.

2 hour game? I noticed something weird in the previews. 10 minute turn timers. 10 minutes! Hopefully it was just so they could show off all the pretties without time constraints, otherwise you'd better bring a packed lunch. And dinner. Maybe breakfast too.

I will eventually update the OP, maybe, as long as it doesn't mean I'm just listing what is/isn't in a DLC or behind a preorder wall. If that's the case, I'm happy to let the thread die, as the game should. FUMBBL forever and all that......

(it actually comes with MORE teams than the original TT game, for free!)

AlStar has been coordinating BB1 tournaments here for....years now. If he's onboard with BB2, it would seem safe to assume he'll do so there too.
