I think we should capture one of the patrols entering cafe's. I'll go as someone eating, leaving my stuff behind, and I'll try to stop them from seeing you.
"Hmm... how are you going to capture them, especially alone and without your stuff?"

(I'm just gonna assume that I haven't yet come back to camp yet)

Grab everything I found and return to the truck.  If I see a goo creature attacking, attempt to reduce its sight and hearing to 10%.  Shoot it.

I meant I'll just be their, and you and some of our allies (or just you) come in and incapacitate them while I stop them from seeing you.
But im guessing there will be other people.

let's try to follow one of the patrols.

From the way light works, if I deflect the light around you, no one will be able to see you. The only problem is I won't be able to see you, so when you move, I won't know where to bend the light around.
Yeah, but we'd better do that in a lonely place.

(Where am I?  Did I return to the truck?  Am I seeing the goo creature attacking?)
Yes, you are still on your way back, you'll arrive at the end of this turn.

I'm going to make a full response tomorrow.

It is now night time where everyone is.

"What the hell do these things even want? WE HAVE NO TREATS FOR YOU, YOU DEMONIC SHITS!"

Push it back with my magic, shoot it and anything else suspicious until situation improves.

You try to slam it away as it runs towards you, your powers effect seem dulled against this more developed version. You fire a barrage of shots at the thing, one skimming it and pulling a clump of flesh off.

It's charge mostly unhampered, it leaps into you knocking you over. Your manage to keep hold of your rifle, it is sandwiched between you and the creature. You unload round after round into it's chest. It tumbles off of you to the ground, unmoving.

Some of it's thick black blood is on your hands.

Your nose itches.

I think we should capture one of the patrols entering cafe's. I'll go as someone eating, leaving my stuff behind, and I'll try to stop them from seeing you.

let's try to follow one of the patrols.

You all shadow separate patrols, ensuring that you keep a good distance to avoid suspicion. The soldiers patrol through the city blocks, sometimes one stops at a store and stands watch at it. You see the patrols come and visit homeless people in alleys a few times. You overhear an exchange from one patrol as they blackmail an owner of a small shipping company, threatening to file a report of treason if he does not pay them. You all regroup and share your reports with each other.

Well, it looked like a bunch of creatures, all black and scaly, maybe, all clustering around the shore. there was a lot of commotion, and some kind of blackish fog or mist or something. Insects, maybe? Hard to say, but it was all up and down the coast of that island, and it looked like things were coming and going from farther in. Didn't look like anything from earth, you ask me. Maybe the natives are getting restless?

Wilhelm sighs "That doesn't sound good at all... how close did you get to this? You'd better not be holding anything back... I have to look out for these people, and I need to know of any threats to them..."

Jon Goldbloom Action:
Ask the woman for more details about the ancient civilization she knows about.

"I don't know much about them really, the ruins are in the forest to the northeast, well concealed by nature. Most of the structures have been either destroyed by the initial bombardment, or fell victim to nature. I found evidence of an underground complex, but haven't gotten to using explosives to open it up.

That said, it seems that they were fairly advanced, there is a building that seems to be an old landing pad for space or aircraft."

(I'm just gonna assume that I haven't yet come back to camp yet)

Grab everything I found and return to the truck.  If I see a goo creature attacking, attempt to reduce its sight and hearing to 10%.  Shoot it.

You return and find Fridge pointing his rifle at the corpse of a slick black creature that may have been a wolf at one point.

"Thank you, miss! You are most pleasant to talk with! Ah, do you happen to have a doctor around here? I got my hand blistered pretty badly when I was working with my truck."

Go to the doctor if there's any and get my blistered hand treated properly. After that, or if there ain't any, go to the John's place. Admire his workhop and ask if he got any extra car batteries, coolers, insulators, tanks, wires and stuff I need to build a electrolysis chamber for getting oxygen and hydrogen from water, and then cooling them into liquids. Offer to do repairs/construction of machinery as payment.

You get your hand bandaged up.

If you can just get the liquid oxygen from him along with the hydrogen would you rather do that? Regardless, we'll assume you did some work this turn, let's say two more turns if you want all your equipment.

Any possible allies? Recruits? If they ever stop to interrogate someone who might work with us, attack them! Then convince the others to join us.

extabilish mind control action with one of the patrollers that we'll find, and make him shoot his friends!

We try to stay away from weird alien shit, you know? But, if I were you, knowing what I know, I'd evacuate immediately. It looked like it was spreading. Maybe call in an airstrike? Or orbital bombardment. Hah! That'd show whatever it was!

((weird side effect goo is OP.))

Does Newton hear the  rifle fire? it's about half a mile away, and Newton is indoors. seems reasonable enough. if He does, he tenses and says Did you hear gunfire? We'd better check that out.then heads back to the diner to collect weapons and companions and head in the direction of the gunshots.

"Well, shit," says PFC Fridge.

Wipe my hands on the ground.

"Private Eye, we've got an issue," he then says to the arriving fellow whose name currently escapes him. "These things can cross water and only get stronger and magic-immune with time. It's time to do a fighting retreat out of here. Out of here and off this planet, actually."

Scarper right quick to town while keeping an eye and an ear out - shoot any further attackers while retreating.

"Couldn't agree more.  This whole planet may need to be evacuated...." Phil says seriously.
Check status of Captain Fred.  Amplify sense of hearing to 1000%.  If i hear more creatures approaching, immediately take Fred and follow PCP Fridge.  Take a weapon, but abandon the rest of the truck, for now.

Jon Goldbloom action:
Follow Newton.

((I want to be able to fabricate more fuel anytime the truck needs it. And I do have a nuclear reactor in the truck, so batteries might be pointless...))

Moar work! Be effective!

You continue your work, one more turn for the parts.

You take a short break from your work. A few minutes later you see a clumsy drunken figure, and a dog walking up the road. The figure stops, his arms swinging forward as if they want to keep going. It's Captain Fred, and Ed the dog. "Duck-tor physics Prufooser? Is that yooou?! Aayeeh met a froond... he m'akes 'is own munshine"
He stumbles over to you, Ed licks your palm.

Jon Goldbloom action:
Follow Newton.
Jon does so.

It looks like Fred may have wandered off to the village with Ed the dog. You hear at first a clitter of of footsteps, all of varying loudness, slowly rising into a rumbling thunder. Deep roars echo through the forest, for all to hear. The main bulk seems to be moving onto the mainland now.

You proceed with Fridge.

You hear a chorus of awful roars in the distance.

You try and wipe your hands off, but still have a fair amount of goo lining them, fine pieces have settled in the crevices of your hands, and under your fingernails.

You and Phil run off to town, another wolf comes by, but you kill it with your combined efforts. Your at the entrance of the town when you meet up with Jon, Newton, and another man. He says to Newton "I assume these are yours?" He turns towards you "Tell me the situation, whatever this stuff is... has it gotten close to here? Is the village in danger?"

We try to stay away from weird alien shit, you know? But, if I were you, knowing what I know, I'd evacuate immediately. It looked like it was spreading. Maybe call in an airstrike? Or orbital bombardment. Hah! That'd show whatever it was!

It does have weaknesses... just need to find them.

"Yes, let's go."

You proceed along with Wilhelm and Jon, meeting up with Fridge and Phil outside of town. Fridge has black gunk lining his hands... they must be close.

Hmm... you have a total of 5 people to aid you both currently. How many do each of you wish to have to aid you in your actions, as you both have separate ideas.

There is a definite possibility of finding allies. While a fair amount of the soldiers are upstanding people, there are some that obviously joined for the wrong reasons, and use their position to bully civilians into doing what they wish. So there is a good chance that some might aid you in an ambush, or help you keep it out of the public eye.

((I thought Ed had come with Newton to the diner, then to see Wilhelm))

Oh God. From the looks of ridge here -yes, thee guys are with me - those black goo creatures have come across. Your village is in great danger. Ugh, this all started with a little infection. I can't believe how quickly it's spreading and evolving. Fridge, get to a sink and wash that shit off before it eats you. Wilhelm, you should do whatever it is you do in emergencies. Sound the alarm, call the people together, whatever. This stuff gets into animals and takes over, turning them into something else. Jon, electrofry any black creatures you see. Where are the professor, Ed, and the Captain? We need to be ready to get the hell gone!

Newton pauses a moment, thinking about what they have tried against the creatures so far. Guns take them down eventually, but they just infect something else and move on. Water seems to only slow them down a little. they appear to be attracted to people, or maybe it's 'special' people. Our powers have some effect, but ... Antibacterials and other meds in that first aid kit didn't kill it when it was just an infection ... oh no ...

Wilhelm! Fridge! Time to try the old fashioned way. Kill it with fire!

Plan: Gather flammables to a flammable building, draw the monsters in, ignite. Ideally, this will also set the forest on fire. Then all that's left is to burn the island, hunt down any stragglers on the mainland to the north, and boil the ocean.

"Yeah, was gonna do that anyway. By the way, Private Nosebleed, they're not responding too well to magic anymore. Must be getting immunity. Bear that in mind."

Go wash my hands. With industrial-strength chemicals if needed.

Thanks for the heads up.

Gather stones to hurl while I am waiting for Wilhelm, and be prepared to repel hostiles.

Jon can focus on readying his electric power to launch at them, and maybe to superheat some trees into exploding around them too.
