Space...magic?
What a strange concept.
Not as if it's influenced by ER
... at least in the sense of powers controlled by ones mind, in a sci-fi setting. Similar to amps in a way. I don't really know what else to call it.
Yep, but not into atomic particles. Does my power work backwards too? That would really help.
Yeah, I suppose so.
Name: Cognitus
Appearance: a man... or... a machine? Looks like a cyborg? A robed cyborg(the robe having many pockets)
Type of Power: Interface(the ability to control advanced technology/computers)
Skills:
Hacking(taken three times)
That is good. I didn't expect anyone to choose three of one skill, but I'll allow it. Here is how it will work. Taken once, a skill will give you a bonus of +1. Taken twice, you simply will never roll a one or two. Taken three times, you will never roll a 1, 2, or 3. Meaning you will never fail the roll unless it is a situation in which the skill is not applicable. The reason I will do it this way is that with straight bonuses of +2, or +3 you'll just constantly overshoot, which I doubt someone who is skilled in something would do as often as someone who is unskilled. I'll be sure to update the first thread with this change.

((Does anyone need the escape pod anymore? Because I have plans for it. A hover trolley, auto-doc, all terrain vehicle and new leg for me.))
Deconstruct the escape pod unless it can take us back into space.
Well, you can build a decent leg using one of the motors from the door, a metal strut from the pods interior, some special circuitry, and a battery from a gauss pistol. Using these, and your mcgyvering powers, you make yourself a robot leg with the capabilities of your flesh and blood leg. Plus a bit more durability due to being made of metal. As a result, the pods door is not operational, you'll have to manually close it if needed. It's quite heavy, so that will be a group effort.
"Let's get this pod camoflauged and scout out the immediate area. For camo, Perhaps bring one of those trees and arrange the upper branches and foliage to overhang, and some bushes to wrap around at eye level. Unless there is a camo net in here. See one? Now, for scouting, whoever has skill in moving carefully in the woods and being unseen should go - at least two. I have such skills ((counterintelligence training)) "and i assume ridge would as well, so perhaps you others could set us up a base here while he and I check around, looking for a source o water, signs of civilization, and other thins of note. What do you guys think?"
Newton unstraps, unstraps, Ed, and begins looking in the pod's equipment containers for a camo net.
((for now, we'll probably leave stuff in the pod. I might attempt to lighten the load or ease of carrying though. See if I can create a long term effect, perhaps one that fades over time and therefore needs refreshed as time goes by. Otherwise, I'll be practicing maintaining a lightening effect over time.))
That was pretty cool.
+1
After Newton unbuckles Ed, he sets off with Ed into the surrounding woods to scout the nearby region. Start by heading toward the sea smell, and work my way around the camp in about a two mile perimeter (should be about an eight to ten mile hike all told - three to five hours). Let the others know my plan and maintain radio silence unless necessary.
You find a crate with some emergency supplies, the section that normally would have emergency food and water is empty. You only have the food and water you brought. You find black netting that you could secure leaves and sticks to. You also find some flares (which even work in a vacuum), a first aid kit, and six lightweight, sharp machetes.
For the journey, we'll have Fridge join you, along with Ed. You all head southeast. The brush is fairly thick, and for a while it seems as if nothing trods within these woods. After about 15 minutes of trekking though, you find a thin dirt trail that is fairly clear of brush, perhaps an animal path. You follow it, the smell of the sea growing stronger, you end up at a sandy beach, the water still. The ocean is blue, just as that of Earth. Following the coast northeast, you see the hill you saw from the landing area, it rises high above the forest's and would probably provide a great view. From here, you see lots of water, and the faint outline of what looks like the nearby coast you had seen on the map earlier.
You all move to the hill, the climb is hard and arduous, as it is think with trees, mud, and thorn bushes. Once you reach the top, the view is excellent. To the east, you see a shallow area of water, that you all could walk, or swim across if needed. Once through it, there is another coastline, which must be the main landmass which you all had seen previously on the map.
For wildlife, it seems that this area has been overtaken by Earth creatures, squirrels, chipmonks, birds, and things such as that. You did catch the site of a deer, but it ran away, unsure of what you all were. It seems that this planets native wildlife was killed on this island before Earth creatures were brought here, evidenced by some strange bones that you found, half buried in the dirt. You all thought you glimpsed something swimming in the ocean, but it quickly disappeared before you could identify it.
"I'm not big on intelligence, Private Nosebleed, but I can definitely try and help," PFC Fridge tells Newton. "I'm more of a shootbang kinda guy, but I can go with ya, if only to bring extra shootbang along in case of trouble. Anyway, first order of business is to find fresh water."
Keep one rifle, one pistol on me, both fully loaded and with a spare clip on hand.
You grab your weapons and ammo, and proceed to explore with Newton, see my reply to Ozark for what you all find.
"Hmm, I'd like to take a moment to find out what kind of activity is happening nearby."
Ask Captain for details about the radio transmitter and receiver, as well as the GPS system. If it is safe to use these without giving away our position, attempt to use these tools to monitor transmissions in the local area and from the closest settlement. Also, ask the Captain where his residence and family is located.
Jon Goldbloom Action:
Check our supplies for over-the-counter painkiller medication. If found, ingest a sample of it to help myself deal with the pain. If not found, ingest some sleeping pills and take a long nap, so that my body can heal itself.
Phil:"Let's just call the transmitter and receiver together the relay for now on, to make things easier. It's capable of transmitting both encrypted and un-encrypted messages, problem is that the federation made the thing, so they can unencrypt what we are currently using. At first, they wouldn't know where we were, they would probably assume that we were just some civilians communicating. But, if they became suspicious of us, they could try to triangulate our position, and find where we are.
This GPS does not need a satellite, and is undetectable. My family does not live on this planet, they are several hundred light years away from here... I would normally just stay in the officers quarters of the base in New Luzon while on this planet."There isn't much communication going on. There are a few stations playing music in a variety of languages, and some other channels that seem to be used by various private companies. You manage to tune into a military channel that mentions an asteroid coming from orbit recently, they think it burned up near your area. Must be that was your pod.
Jon Goldbloom:20 pills. You ingest a painkiller, and feel nothing at first. The box says it will take 30 minutes to kick in. After they kick in, your pain is lessened slightly, but, still is great. I mean, an over the counter painkiller isn't too great to treat being shot in the stomach.
For now, each of these turns are around an hour in length.
