"Let's get this pod camoflauged and scout out the immediate area. For camo, Perhaps bring one of those trees and arrange the upper branches and foliage to overhang, and some bushes to wrap around at eye level. Unless there is a camo net in here. See one? Now, for scouting, whoever has skill in moving carefully in the woods and being unseen should go - at least two. I have such skills ((counterintelligence training)) "and i assume ridge would as well, so perhaps you others could set us up a base here while he and I check around, looking for a source o water, signs of civilization, and other thins of note. What do you guys think?"

Newton unstraps, unstraps, Ed, and begins looking in the pod's equipment containers for a camo net.

((for now, we'll probably leave stuff in the pod. I might attempt to lighten the load or ease of carrying though. See if I can create a long term effect, perhaps one that fades over time and therefore needs refreshed as time goes by. Otherwise, I'll be practicing maintaining a lightening effect over time.))

That was pretty cool.

Oh, well thanks you two. I was doubtful of the quality of writing when I posted it. Also, Ozark, just to confirm, that skill will work with what you mentioned.

"I'm not big on intelligence, Private Nosebleed, but I can definitely try and help," PFC Fridge tells Newton. "I'm more of a shootbang kinda guy, but I can go with ya, if only to bring extra shootbang along in case of trouble. Anyway, first order of business is to find fresh water."

Keep one rifle, one pistol on me, both fully loaded and with a spare clip on hand.

Newton looks at PFC ridge in some mild confusion. "You ARE an army guy, aren't you? They didn't teach you how to move around in the woods? Ah well, basic training isn't exactly rigorous in that regard, I guess. Listen, we're not trying to sneak into er majesty's Panty Drawer. We're just getting a feel for an area which is probably empty of other people. A little caution and some effort at stealth should do. Probably."

"Hmm, I'd like to take a moment to find out what kind of activity is happening nearby."

Ask Captain for details about the radio transmitter and receiver, as well as the GPS system.  If it is safe to use these without giving away our position, attempt to use these tools to monitor transmissions in the local area and from the closest settlement.  Also, ask the Captain where his residence and family is located.

((Does anyone need the escape pod anymore? Because I have plans for it. A hover trolley, auto-doc, all terrain vehicle and new leg for me.))

Deconstruct the escape pod unless it can take us back into space. Otherwise only scavenge parts I need to construct a robo leg for myself.

Yeah, let's not. Not yet. We want to hang on to our only known method of getting off planet for a while.

((this is where i got that idea from
"Well, that depends where you land. If you land in some of the sparsely populated desert areas, there is a good chance that you won't be noticed, as they are desolate and dangerous. If you land in a more populated area you will be swarmed immediately. That said, why not just take an escape pod down, rather than the whole ship? You can always fly back up to this thing later. Not to mention that landing this ship, in this condition, might break some things."
And he doesn't explicitly say you can always fly back in the escape pod, so I might be mistaken on that. Well, if the pod is not capable of returning to orbit, I'd still like to keep the hull intact at least, to use as a base for our preliminaries. Once we've decided to set out or good, and to where, by all means, use it. But if it is capable of return to orbit, let's hang on for a little.))

"I do warp drive repairs, shooting and brutalizing people decently well, and I haven't even seen a goddamn forest before in my life," PFC Fridge explains. "Well, outside of training videos anyway."

"Ahahahah. Hah. Ahhh. Damn it. Maybe you should stay here then and help set up camp. I won't be gone long - couple hours at the most, and Ed can probably assist as well as you could. Probably better, for scouting.

Why are you a Private? that's an army term, and spacers are Marines and Navy [or space core or whatever]? Eh, you know what? Never mind.

You guys should all stay off the radio for now. Who knows if they are secure down here."

After Newton unbuckles Ed, he sets off with Ed into the surrounding woods to scout the nearby region. Start by heading toward the sea smell, and work my way around the camp in about a two mile perimeter (should be about an eight to ten mile hike all told - three to five hours). Let the others know my plan and maintain radio silence unless necessary.

On a planet with a thin or non-existant atmosphere you would be able to get out, but, since this has an earth like one, you cannot get back into orbit with this thing. I should have mentioned that bit. I'll update this later today. I'll assume you want to dissassemble the pod then Aoshima?
