map's pretty cool. I'm considering where to land.

Near the lake in dead center is good for isolation and resources, bad for getting closer to civilization after we land. that mountain range would be rough to travel, I bet.

near the lake in the lower right is good for the same reasons, and still a bit far for getting to civilization, but with the advantage of not needing to cross the mountains.

Perhaps in the green area to the right of the vast lake north of the cities? It seems far enough rom the cities, with reasonable access to them.

the other issue remains unanswered: where on this map are the other "specials."

Hmm.. By specials you mean the holding facility for people like you mentioned earlier by the captain? I don't believe he told you an exact location. I suppose you could find its location once you reach the ground.

And yes, by hoodoo I do mean telekinesis, unless you can think of some other hoodoo that PFC Fridge can do.))

You guys just let me know once you have decided. If necessary we can do another vote.

Edit: You can also assume that where there are patrols outside of the city there is probably something important. Might just be a populated area or mines, might be something else.

The one north of those two lighter blue lines that look like rivers? The one kinda connected to the eat shore by a little isthmus?

Edit: of that's the one, It looks like a decent place to start. I vote there, unless Newton feels it wold be too close to habitation, in which case I wold veer off a bit toward the nearest quiet location that isn't underwater.

((Works for me. But we could literally land anywhere and I could build automated mining and construction facilities for us. Robotic navy. Robotic airforces. Combat drones. We could conquer this world! Turn it into a forge world! Conquer rest of mankind and establish special people as elite!

Think about it.))

No, I'm not making it that easy. Also, did you all want to use an escape pod or land the ship itself? You can aim both of them. But, it would be much more dangerous and noticeable to use the ship.

((Naturally that is the long term plan, we talking about many years here.

I vote for escape pods. Flesh golem was nice experiment but ultimately it did not receive good scores, so I'm leaving it behind. MWP (Mobile Weapon Platform) is coming with us however, as is the captain.

Edit: Oh yeah, grab some gauss rifles too
. Gotta upgrade my bot.))

Grab myself a nice and loaded gauss rifle - no, make that three nice and loaded gauss rifles - complete with plentiful ammunition and then escape pod away.

Just to be safe, disable all the consoles that can access the ship's weapons.  Then leave with the others on an escape pod.

Yeah, this rtd might actually get to a point where that is possible. I have not yet decided the scope of this game.

Edit: I'll update once Ozark posts just in case he wants to do something.

Let's go via escape pod. I'll join Fridge in gathering some weapons, including any explosives the clones were bringing that would fit comfortably in the pod, and any additional medical supplies we have access to on the bridge. take a last look around for items of use, then head out. Make sure Ed comes along.

I'll see about updating a slightly better version of that map once I am on a decent connection. The host I initially used compressed the images.
______________________________________________________________________________________________

Phil disables the bridges consoles.

Fridge, wanting to have as much weaponry as possible, straps two gauss rifles to his back, and carries one in his arms, slinging it to his shoulders when he is needed to carry other things.

The Professor enters the pod carrying 2 gauss rifles, along his weapon platform and the captain.

Jon Goldbloom groans, stands up and walks slowly into the pod. He straps himself in, in obvious pain.

Newton and Fridge search the ship for addition weapons and supplies. They fill a long rectangular, metal chest with weapons, medical supplies, and various other items. Including:

-7 gauss pistols.
-3 gauss submachine guns.
-Various tools (wrenches, screwdrivers, hammers, etc). Two of each.
-A battery operated welder.
-Some wire and soldering gun.
-Small computer.
-Gauze, bandages, disinfectant, sterile needles, one can of insta-splint spray,
-Various over the counter medicines (sleep aids, cold, flu, allergy, etc.) - Yes, people still have those problems.
-One 1/2th kiloton charge, Six 1/16th kiloton charges. (Numbers might be changed once I find something, not my area of knowledge).
-MRE's for you all, enough for 3 days.
-Water for 2 days. (That is, in the area that you are landing, a desert would require more to last that long.)

Now, this all fit in the pod, question is... do you want to carry all this shit all over the place, you might have quite the trek. Less is easier to carry, but you can still carry it all of course.

Everyone enters the pod and straps in, Ed is strapped into a seat with some complaint and ends up with his arms and legs sticking straight out in a very strange fashion. The captain punches in the coordinates for the area that you all specified, and says that the shuttle can handle it from there, since you are not in a combat area. He straps in with the rest of you.

There is a symphony of clicks, hums, and sirens as the pod goes through it's pre-launch tests. It's doors close shut, and there is a hiss as the pod is sealed airtight. You hear a thunk and the pod is off, moving towards the planet. At first there is calm, soon the artificial gravity of the ship is gone, and you all feel weightless in the near zero gravity. The calm is rudely disturbed as the pods manuevering thrusters kick on, exposing you to several gees as the pod jerks into position and adjusts itself, preparing to fall out of orbit and into the planet. The main thrusters kick on, throwing you all into your seats as they spin to adjust to your new direction of movement.

You barrel into the planet's atmosphere like a rock hitting water, yet, you do not skip off of it, you barrel straight through it. The pod windows lights up, a ball of fire, surrounded by the ionizing atmosphere. After a few minutes, the glow fades and you all begin to see water, mid-air engines kick in, slowing the pod down, they turn off momentarily and the secondary chutes kick in, jerking you all into your seats as the pod rapidly deccelerates. The primary chute activates and the pod slows a crawl, clunking softly as it hits the ground.

You all exit the pod, still hot from reentry. You are in a small field with waist high grass. It is surrounded with a deciduous forest, still a rich green color. It's trees are tall and majestic, it seems that this forest has never been touched. It is summer. You see a tall hill rising to the east, and a small brook to the northwest. Other than that, you cannot see anything, the trees blocking your view. You do smell something though, almost like the smell of a sea. The captain confirms this thought and says that you all probably landed on the coastal area of the island.

As far as you can tell, no one has noticed you. You have a radio transmitter and receiver in the pod, along with a gps system (These gps' don't require satellites).

((I think that is all, let me know if I have missed something.))
