To New Manila. I thought that was a given or my character at this point, and that we were still on the move, not idling.

Anyway, to repeat: Head straight to a starport. Hmm, preferably one with civilian or poorly guarded military shuttles or ships we can steal. We need off planet ASAP.

"Come on people! This whole situation is quite mad! It's perfect time to play mad scientist and build a weapon capable of destroying those monsters!"

Upon noticing the problem with the fuel fabricator Professor sighs.

"Oh great... Now this."

Shut down the water pump, I have enough water in the converter already. Collect the intake pipe into the truck and quickly analyze what went wrong.
Load as many bullets into MWP as it can take. Speech!

"Okey people! It's time to continue. We don't want to be sitting here unarmed and unprepared when the monsters finally reach us! Let's move on and alert the people in the city!"

It looks like the the rods used to drive electric current into the water corroded, causing the machine to malfunction and start evaporating the water rather than splitting it. Luckily, it just broke the tube, and the parts are easily replaceable. It looks like Ozark/Newton wants to move on, you warn the city of the issue, and receive a response of disbelief, they consider locking you up, saying you must be insane. You leave with the rest of the group, heading to New Manila.

The people give you a glum response, some just ignoring you.

"Hrm," PFC Fridge says, not feeling like articulating further.

Let's move. Into the city or onward to New Manila, but let us just move.

You all head off to New Manila.

Anyway, to repeat: Head straight to a starport. Hmm, preferably one with civilian or poorly guarded military shuttles or ships we can steal. We need off planet ASAP.

Ah well, I assumed you all did not wish to move yet. We'll have you all head to New Manila...

Main Group:

You all head off to New Manila. Some of the village survivors come, others stay, hoping that some others survived and will stream in.

It will take 3 turns (including this one) to get to New Manila. You are part way through your voyage when you begin to hear troubling police reports from Eastmire on your relay. Apparently a strange "disease" has appeared, causing black growths to form on people, and extreme aggression once the disease matures. Before then, it causes great pain, and hallucinations.

You all guess that the main horde has not yet arrived, just that the one man who entered the city was indeed infected.

Yeah, as shit as it is to leave people behind, sometimes it's the only way.

Captain, ((he still with us?)) what will be needed to legally get onto an outbound shuttle or ship? will we simply need funds, or would some computer records and papers and the like be necessary? How about stealing a small civilian or military ship? think that would be possible, without getting shot down immediately? We need to figure out fast what it is we are going to have to do to get spacebound. Hmm, are there any spare parts hangars? perhaps with a little luck, the professor could rig up something. At least something sturdy enough to get us back into orbit, so we can get back to the ship we left from.

Newton discusses with Captain Jack and anyone else who knows New Manila's spaceflight routine how to best get onto an outbound flight.

PFC Fridge just shakes his head in disappointment. What a complete disaster.

Move along. Keep an eye out for interlopers, black goo-related or otherwise.

((Sorry I haven't posted lately.  My free time is limited at the moment.))

Observe the professor.  If he's doing anything with his ability, then try to amplify his "special sense" as high as I can.

Newton discusses with Captain Jack and anyone else who knows New Manila's spaceflight routine how to best get onto an outbound flight.

The Captain grins "Well... my name is Fred, but good try. In a city like New Manila you are definetely going to need some form of identification... not that it has to be authentic. On stealing a ship, I would recommend not doing so, if the crew reports the theft, a military vessel will be sent after us. The usual punishment for ship theft is death, with the thiefs rarely getting any clemency. There are places where you can buy spare parts, but I think it would be to expensive. All said, I think that getting a shuttle off of the planet, and maybe onto the ship we were on before should work well. Also, once the admiral arrives, he might take us in. I never saw him involved in the project which lead to your kidnappings."

((It's all good, I'll just have your character continue along with the others when you don't post.))

You just continue to ride along in the truck, as the professor doesn't do anything yet.

"I bet I could build a spaceship with proper parts. Not in one go, no, but if given time and tools, certainly."

One of the people with you answers "It might be possible... but it sounds like it'd be expensive."

PFC Fridge just shakes his head in disappointment. What a complete disaster.

Move along. Keep an eye out for interlopers, black goo-related or otherwise.

You keep an eye out, switching between radio channels to pass the time.

Main Group:

The reports of violence in Eastmire steadily increase, people begin communicating with the military citadel in New Manila, asking for troops to help with control efforts.

The situation finally erupts with many voices, filled with disbelief, reporting a horrendous horde of creatures coming towards the city, a few miles away. There are signs of hope as the cities police force puts up a defence against them. But, it ultimately fails, there are simply too many of them. Isolated survivors scream for help for hours, raving horrors in the background of their transmissions.

Later, transmissions from the admiral's fleet start to come in on planetary channels, they are 7 hours out.

Conein:

The military base goes into high alert. Soldiers spring out of the barracks and begin to move towards the armory to gather their gear. There are reports of some mysterious disease, and an attack at Eastmire. Radio contact with the city has been cut off.

Okay, Fred. We have limited time and need IDs for each of us. What would be involved in fabricating something sufficient to get on the first shuttle we can get outbound?

...

Oh, and besides the engine, which is floating in space beside it, what else has yet too be installed in that ship for it to be suitable for interstellar flight?

Do the things to get the IDs to get a shuttle off this cursed hellhole.

Phil looks toward his allies as a crazy idea enters his mind.
"Hey guys, there might be a way to undue this entire mess.  Now, I know this a long shot and probably not an immediate option, but perhaps Newton, Jon, and the Professor could work together and use their abilities to create..." Phil hesitates for a moment. "...a Time Machine.  If we could travel back in time, we could stop this goo infestation before it ever starts."

Phil grins nervously, already regretting his suggestion.
"Okay, I realize that sounds ridiculous.  Such a machine would be extremely difficult to create, but, uh, we could always give it a shot.  What do you think, professor?  Even if science says such a device would be impossible, you've violated the laws of Physics on multiple occasions.  If anyone could pull it off, it would be you."

Newton shakes his head grimly.
We gotta focus on getting off this planet alive before we start talking about stuff like that. I won't say it's impossible, though ...
He is silent for a moment, brooding.
For all we know, these things will develop independent orbital capabilities ...

"If we had a time machine, Private Eye, that'd be the least of our problems it could solve," PFC Fridge says. "Now let's stop fucking around and get the hell out of here before our good works get over here and weigh in on the issue."

Do ID things. Must obtain ID. Falsified, presumably.

"It sounds crazy, impractical, dangerous and crazy. Did I mention crazy? Because it is. And I want to try it. Too bad it has the same problem as building a spaceship. I have no parts or time. But remind me again when we have both."
