Yes. Which is why I suggest we get local gossip. Carefully. we don't know how tightly controlled the population is here, nor how many eyes and ears the government has around. If we walk in boldly and openly, we attract attention, and put ourselves at risk, and perhaps put sympathizers at risk. ... Not that we haven't already put everyone here at risk. Well, Captain Johnson, how do you read the situation?

Fred shrugs "I say that we risk sending someone in, this place is so far from the main cities that I wouldn't be surprised to find out that they have problems with The Federation. Also, I wouldn't try and steal something if necessary. The only justice this place probably knows is the end of a rifle, or a noose. Sure, you all could probably escape this village in a conflict... but do you really want to kill these people?"

"Hey guys, I've discovered that people travel through these woods pretty frequently.  I think we can expect some visitors by tomorrow morning.  What do you guys think we should do?  I could sneak through the town and do some reconnaissance.  Maybe there's some kind of vehicle we can steal under the cover of night.  Hm, if walking around  town is too risky, there might be another way to scout out the place..."

Look around for a tall, climbable tree.  Climb to the top of the tree and look toward the town.  Then amplify my sight to 1000% and scan the town for notable features.  Especially keep an eye out for vehicles.

Edit:
If for some reason my tree-recon plan fails, then instead stealthily enter the town and look around for about 20 minutes.  Then return back to the group, making sure I haven't been followed.

You see several vehicles parked within the village. There are several atv's parked by houses, and two truck's with large cargo holds on the back of them. Both of them seem to belong to the village, so they can transport supplies to and from the cities. Upon further examination of the buildings, you also see a variety of businesses along the main street.

Oh, tought i had no idea about my powers.

Well, the way I have been looking at it you all knew by now. I'll put a note in the main post once this is posted, as it isn't 100% clear.

"I'll do it. So... when do we start?"

Get equipment if possible.

"I'll do it. Bet we put ourselves in trouble anyways. What kind of stuff do you have?"

(we dont know about our powers right?)

"Follow me to our armory." Telgus leads you through a criss cross of halls and intersections to a large metal door guarded by two men with rifles. He opens up the door, the room is filled with weapons. Various knifes, swords, and clubs. Rifles, pistols, and machine guns, both gunpowder and gauss variants. Fragmentation grenades, smoke, flash, teargas, incendiary, explosive charges, etc.

"You may take what you like... but, there are some rules. We can only sneak so much into the city for you. If you want a rifle, we can have each of you bring one in a case, claiming it needs repair. The rest must be fit in a backpack among any other equipment you would like. The backpacks will have special material that tricks the scanners at customs. They generally don't open the bags up."

I'm being fairly open with this. Give me 10 items that you would like, even if I did not list them. If the item is fairly small, then the maximum that you can have is five before you must use another slot. So, if you said "5 grenades", that would take only one slot. If you said "6 grenades" it would go past the limit and into another slot. Any questions?

I'm still interested.

I'd like to wait for one more turn for NAV and FallacyofUrist to respond. But, I'm going to throw out this idea. If two people would like to play. Put a sheet down and you'll be put in next turn, no waitlist. The other two waitlisters haven't responded as of yet.

Let's take a remote triggered mine, in case we need to blow up something. I'll assume the remote doesn't take up a slot. A gauss rifle, along with a couple (2) gauss (or normal) pistols. 5 smoke grenades would also be helpful, along with a few flash grenades (5). Actually, I think we'd be better off with more mines. 2 more, to be precise. And... (uh...) a few more pistols, I guess. (2)

That's good. If you wanted anything else instead of reduntant pistols, you can always just throw out your ideas for equipment, and I'll see what I think. It doesn't all have to be weapons.

Only reason I took more pistols is because I haven't gotten any better ideas. I'm assuming they'll run out of ammo at some point, right? And if we find any allies (unlikely, but hey) I can always give them one.
Yeah, that's fine. You'll get a fair amount of ammo, say 50-100 rounds, to start. For each type of weapon.

Alright, guess I'll head in. Let's see what we can learn. Anyone coming with me? Ed, I'd like your company. You can run a message back here if need be, for one thing.((It's about sunset, right?))

Newton heads into town, to a local eatery, where he asks for a menu and a glass of water and listens to gossip for a while. If the establishment makes an issue out of ordering or paying, offer to work for food, with a little "down on my luck" explanation.

"There are a few vehicles in the village.  Maybe you can find a way to acquire one.  I'll wait here.  There's something I'd like to double check."

Climb to the top of the tree again.  Amplify my sight by 1000%.  This time, look back the way we came.  Check if there are any goo creatures active or coming toward us.  Afterward, while I'm up there, slowly turn 360 degrees and survey the surrounding landscape.  Warn my team if I spot any incoming threats.

Jon Goldbloom Action

Join Newton.  If we need money, offer my tech repair skills to the local populace in exchange for cash.  If I manage to acquire enough money, buy a vehicle.  If we are in some kind of building that receives electrical power and need to make a fast getaway, manipulate the electricity in the building to disable the power or make a distraction.

"As a frequent speaker in university, I can speak our way in and out if needed. Probably."

Professor goes into the town with Newton and Jon, fishing out their stand about the Federation. Hopefully they ignore my federation clone soldier pants and shoes.

We'll say ten each. I'd say just try and pick tools that might be useful when trying to infiltrate a highly secure area. Radio jammers, portable wireless cameras, drones, electronic lockpicks, weapon supressors, etc. If you think of a tool real or imaginary, list it. Then I'll look and see what I think.

Alright, guess I'll head in. Let's see what we can learn. Anyone coming with me? Ed, I'd like your company. You can run a message back here if need be, for one thing.((It's about sunset, right?))

Yes, the sun has about set now, golden light glistening on the village and the trees of the forest.

You three walk into the town, at first along the small foot paths, receiving unfriendly glares from the populace of the village. You end up on the main road of the village, and follow it until you find a small diner. A young black haired woman greets you with a hard gaze and takes your orders. She stands behind a serving table observing you all eat, seemingly weighing a decision.

"You're not from around here are you? You're armed and you're strangers... try not to get into trouble.." she starts for the back room and halts. "If I were you I'd go see Wilhelm, he's the leader of our town, and he'd be unhappy to find you came here and didn't see him."

Jon leaves in search of work, he finds an electronics repair store and aids them in some of their work. He makes 300 credits. Not enough to buy a vehicle. Especially in this town, as they have so few of them. Jon comes back and pays for your food, 15 credits, leaving you with 285C.

You climb the tree and gaze off towards the island. While the view isn't amazing at this distance, you can see that there is a lot of movement on the coast of the island. Black figures dashing around , most of them coalescing at the shallow area of water. The trees and plants have begun turning black as well, there is a strange white dust floating about. You see movement on the forests of the mainland, but it's hard to tell what with all the foliage.

You don't see any impending dangers approaching.

H4zardZ1 / Dest Eterna Start:

You don't know who these people are, but you sure do hate them. They kidnapped you, drugged you, and then send you on a weeks long journey on a spaceship... in a cargo crate. They didn't even buy you dinner... unless the nutrient paste they left in the box counts. At the end of the journey, they opened up your crate, got you onto the ground, tied your hands, and stuck a bag over your head. They brought you to some planet, and eft you in a room, tied to a post with a bag over your head.

These two paragraphs are mutually exclusive. Also, damn it, I forgot we were all packing heat. I should have thought about that. grr.

Alright, can someone direct me toward Wilhelm? To Jon, in an aside. Good work getting those funds. Work went well? Buy a couple coffees for you and the professor and see if you guys can't strike up a friendly conversation, but please, don't push it. Maybe buy a round for the house?

To Jon and the Professor, quietly: Please don't mention the trouble on the island. no sense starting a panic. Maybe this Wilhelm can organize an evacuation or something.

Newton heads to wherever they direct him, taking Ed along. He leaves his weapons with the others.
Keep an eye on these for me? ANd don't turn them into anything weird? Thanks guys.

((Ozarck, you might have forgotten most of your speech colors.))

To Newton: "Oh, don't you worry."

Calming and friendly words to the woman, maybe she warms up for me: "Worry not, we don't like trouble either. All troubles we have at moment is lack of fuel for my truck. By the way, I'm Doctor Physics Professor, nice to meet you! My parents though it would be funny name, but I turned it into reality."

Yes, they are, aren't they.. what I had meant was that there is no danger in your very immediate area. Off in the distance though, you have the impending black gunk menace.

They point you to the large building near the water, find the building empty. A man calls out from a side room. The room is lined with translucent tables and has ceiling hooks for hanging fish off of. There is a large freezer in the back of the room. The man is slicing up a strange creature that looks similar to a squid, besides a mouth with large dagger like teeth, tough scaled skin, and a massive head.

The man speaks, hardly looking up from his work "Yes? What is it?"

Sit and guard. Make sure the perimeter around the truck is secure.

You walk a short perimeter of the local area, finding nothing, and take a seat on the truck, keeping your eyes out for trouble.

"That black goo infestation on the island is getting worse.  We're safe for now, though."

Double check the supplies that we have with us in the truck.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Jon Goldbloom action:
Chit chat with the locals.  Buy everyone a free drink to ease their nerves.

Jon buys drinks for all, easing tensions in the room.

The woman gets a complexed look on her face.

"Yes, that is a very strange name. If your looking for hydrogen fuel cells, the price is hefty around here, we keep most of them for our own vehicles. I'm Lauren, now get the fuck out what brings you to our village, and where did you come in from? I don't remember any strangers driving into town today.."

So i'll take:
-2 gauss rifles
-Three C4. Or the thing that explodes when you press a button, i don't know.
-a first aid kit
-something that helps me hack into computers
-guess i'll go with the electronic lockpicks. Why not.
- Some advanced x-ray stuff that makes me see through walls?
- and then radio jammers because i am out of ideas.

Looks good, the c-4 will come with a remote detonator.

I think I'll drop some of my explosives, if conein's taking 3 as well. So, I have:
1. A gauss rifle.
2 & 3. 2 gauss pistols.
4. A remote detonated explosive.
5. 5 smoke grenades.
6. 5 flash grenades.
7. Silencers for guns, if it takes a slot.
8. Laser cutter.
9. Camera Disabler thingy.
10. Hmm... let's see... uh... signal spotter. Let's me detect radar signals/radio signals and listen in. Earbuds too.

Looks good as well, I'll make a full list for you both tomorrow. Telgus introduces you both to the five men who will be assisting you in your mission. You all take ground transport to the city, it takes 5 hours, moving at a high speed on the long empty roads. You all arrive at the city of New Manila, it's skyline vast, and growing higher yet. Massive skyscrapers with curvacious designs pierce the clouds. You get through entrance security just fine with your scanner shielded bags, and find yourself on a street crowded with people. The current area has smaller building of perhaps 5-7 stories, and looks to be one of the nicer areas of the city. There are many hotels here.

You see stairs leading down underground with a sign that says "Public Transit". Another sign lists various locations, including various suburbs, commercial and industrial areas. One stands out "Macnellen Military Citadel". There are no security checks for using that route, so you assume that there must be some hotels and stores outside of it that this leads to.
