The Layar are an Alien Race and thus not Magic in nature.

Oh, I thought space magic was a thing in RotMG. Humans are Special rules the roost.

But how is magic still hidden? The Layar would've had their asses kicked badly if they were scared enough to send an envoy as a sign of 'sorry, please don't murder us', and that sort of thing on a planetwide scale is pretty noticeable. Not to mention the Layar would talk about magic in anything to do with their treaties with Earth.

In that case, how is the defeat of the Layar explained to the public? Did the Layar apparently go 'ah fuck it, it's 5pm' and call it a day?

I don't think media manipulation can explain the otherwise seemingly invincible aliens running away for no good reason. Besides, unless the Layar are dirt stupid, they would have been ready for at least a decade of fruitless slog, unless something absolutely terrifying beat their asses in. Interplanetary wars are long and bloody, unless you use WMDs and/or clean off the surface with OGMs or the like.

They had spaceships. Unless humanity has a stockpile of space-capable bombers available, they're pretty much untouchable.

How fast is humanities' space travel? I don't think there would be anything more than a few hundred specialists in each colony, unless the Layar are master spacefarers and colony builders.

Considering it took us 8 years to get a man on the moon, this should've taken us decades. Since we just stole Layar tech, all timing goes out the window. Since a character ON A MOON TWO BILLION MILES AWAY FROM EARTH can get dragged back to a plot in a day, it's either lightspeed or faster.

Wait, if they could build colonies that fast, why the hell did they invade Earth?
