Name: Victoria Van der Ven / Code-Name: Gleamscale
Age: 15 / 15
Gender: Female / Female
Description/Appearance/Personality:
Victoria is a short European girl of Dutch decent. She has shoulder-length hair that she dyes a garish neon-blue. She prefers wearing casual everyday clothing. She looks happily dazed and daydreaming most of the time. She is pretty lazy and can be found most of the day napping on some comfortable surface. When she is awake, she moves slowly and avoids physical exertion. She's almost always in good spirits, even though her lethargic personality can obscure that. People who disturb her naps or daydreaming tend to end up the victims of pranks... eventually, when she gets around to it. She dislikes combat or conflict, and will avoid them if at all possible.
Her transformation into Gleamscale involves her growing a tale and leathery wings stretching between her arms and the sides of her body (cf. a
wyvern, though she only acquires the tail and wings). The transformation also gives her her eponymous scales, which look like mirror shards reflecting and diffracting light. The tail, arms, and wings are completely covered in large scales, while the rest of the body develops sparser covering of smaller scales in some locations. Her eyes take on a more reptilian appearance, with the iris turning to a vertical slit. Her transformed body is crystalline and delicate, not well suited physically for combat. This fragility, coupled with her lethargic personality and her unwillingness to tear her clothing every time she transforms, explain her dislike for combat (and in fact her dislike for transforming when at all avoidable).
Background:
Many descendants of the dragons of old awaken in this age of renewed magic, but not all bear the mythical pride and temper that their ancestors were known for. Victoria began manifesting signs of her heritage at an early age, ranging from shiny crystalline specks occasionally appearing on her hands to lowered body temperature and lethargy. The young Victoria, unperturbed by these happenings, remained a happy and carefree (though lazy) child. Her parents, extremely rich Dutch businessmen, hid her condition from the world for as long as they could, constantly moving her between countries across Europe and abroad. Eventually, as magic became wider public knowledge, Victoria came in contact with others of similar ilk and her worried parents could do nothing but leave her to learn about her condition and powers on her own terms.
Powers:
The Third Law [SP]: The power over cold, the ability to reduce temperature to absolute zero. Can be used for direct offense or to slow down enemies, but also to crystallize (some might say "perfect") water or other substances using very low temperatures.
Scales and Mirrors [SP]: Light can be shed to reveal truth, or bent to trick with illusions. In a pinch, light can blind and sear. The mirror scales and hereditary magics inherent in her allow Victoria to do all of that, though this power tends to lend itself better to subtle manipulation than to direct offensive uses.
