From what I can gather, the two aren't too different. Everyone just brings their own characters and associated setting and then shoves said characters into a completely unrelated setting filled with stuff from other random settings.

well, if nobody else is going on adventure, no reason to leave PN hanging until the group piti-joins the plot, and then eventually feels bored and forced into it. This game was supposed to have less combat, so those who'd rather just RP and not do plots and combat should absolutely do so. Everyone else, well, the portal is still open I guess.
