My thoughts are as follows: AI is a child. Definitely not a Singularity grade mind. It's the kind of AI a race stepping into the field of AI would make. A human level AI. No smarter then your average Joe. Clearly it doesn't understand tech, and if it were smarter, it would have the capacity to admit such. But as it is, it's a child in an adult's body. Specifically a manchild.

kevak did you... miss the post i made earlier
it's entirely possible that sepia does know what she's talking about and you don't because sepia is actually the artificial intelligence who is controlled by the person that knows everything about the universe and, therefore, would be correct about the universe, aka sanure

We still only have one universal set of laws. This is set in reality and then has magic sprinkled in. The addition of magic does not change how thermodynamics or any other universal laws work. Just allows localized manipulation. If the AI had justified her power source with "magic" then nobody would complain.

let me explain this to you another time
this
is not
our universe

the thermodynamics you are talking about are based in our universe
everything is not the same in every single universe

Let me explain how deviations in the laws of reality work. Slight deviations are tolerable but extremely uncomfortable. Large deviations prevent things from properly forming and are deadly. Changing the laws of thermodynamics sufficiently to make the AI's shit power source a better option then a functional fusion reactor would most likely prevent stars from forming.

I would be totes fine if it were justified with magic. However it is not. It's justified with an attempt at science that does not work.

Actually, nuclear power sources are a bad idea in any realistic settings.
You'd have to replace the shielding all the time, and it's even worse for fusion reactors.

Either you need to suspend disbelief, or change the plating around the reactor every few weeks.
