The dice-based attacks for units just adds an unnecessary layer of processing to the game, it's not going to change how we use the units. A rock-paper-scissors style range of possible units that each have an edge over a different unit type would be OK.

Basic complexity sounds best to me.

I don't mind the system right now.

Heads up, the intro sentence on the post says the high judge is there and then the next line says he has been murdered. I interpreted this as his ghost is still among us. Watching. Judging.

A Judge gets murdered on the eve of the trial? Isn't that mighty suspicious...

I am provisionally using the basic complexity system to test whether it will work for Ragona, so battles in the near future may be run on it.  Here is an example of how the recent attack on the rebel forces in Sarlax might have gone under it:

Spoiler: Fluffy Battle Report (click to show/hide)
Spoiler: Hard, Crunchy Numbers (click to show/hide)

This fight is not 'canon', it is worth mentioning.  Just how it might have gone down.  I also simmed what happens if you pit 4 maniples of Centuria against the 4 Rebel maniples, and as you might expect it really goes one way or the other.  Surprisingly few survivors, though.  I might need to up the point at which units break and run.

Norvar's smile grows even larger "Then my condolences on the loss of your spy. You see, when someone breaks into my house, to find a way to incriminate me in something I had no hand in, well...They vanish. Quite mysteriously.

What spy do you mean?

OOC: Counter espionage on my house found a spy. I warned the person OOC to remove it, or suffer my wrath.

Behold my wrath. Don't spy on me, and I won't spy on you. Savvy?

So guys what was our overall comittment to anti-piracy, and should we keep that up? I just worry that we might sabotage our profits.

I committed three ships armed to anti-piracy duties, sunk two pirates and captured a third. I think that was all.

And it was 1 from me, driving off 1 vessel. So should we maintain 4 vessels as an anti-piracy force? You could drop 1 and I could add 1, to keep the # of anti-piracy units equal, and leaving us both ships for trade.
