If that's right then it has the potential to develop into a worrying situation, given how effective those spears are as deadly weapons.

So how do PCs commit murders in this format?  If it was roleplayed in the main thread, everyone would see it and know who killed who.  So would players have to pm their murderous actions to the GM?  If another PC is attacked, would the attacked player be alerted somehow and given a chance to defend him or herself?

That's true, but players knowing who murdered who takes some of the fun out of solving the clues to the mystery.  It would just be about players guiding their PC to try to solve a mystery the player already figured out.  Unless every player decided that their respective characters weren't smart enough to piece all the clues together, the trials would always result in a correct vote.

PC murders will work as thus:

-Twin is only running trials and anything else, not the murders themselves, so please direct these to me.
-The murderer will PM me with an action attempting to kill another player or an NPC.
-I will roll for if the player noticed you. It's a d20, and anything under a ten means they notice (translation: I will PM them and notify them of the murder attempt) and get to fight back or run.
-If they fight back, five rolls are done. If three or more rolls are in their favour, the would-be victim escapes and the murderer is incapacitated for the whole phase. If the three rolls are in the murderer's favour, the murderer succeeds.
-If they run, five rolls are done, with three rolls in favour of the victim meaning a successful escape, and three rolls in favour of the murderer meaning a successful kill.
-If the kill is successful, there will be another roll for witnesses. Anything under a ten means there's a witness who saw you, with varying degrees of actual identification of the killer, and they escape automatically.
-If the kill is unsuccessful for any reason, the would-be victim may flee and basically rat the would-be killer out to everyone. Monobadger won't care, however; as far as he's concerned, no rules were broken because you didn't kill anyone.
