Why would English be the assumed language there? I mean, why else would it be called Honmei Island, instead of, like, Apex Island? If they own it, they can name it what they want.

From what I can tell it varies heavily depending on region; spending eleven years in St. Petersburg is quite different than those same eleven in Kursk or Siberia.

Besides, if it's unaffiliated, why would it matter what country they're closest to?
