Dumb Ideas We Had Today
« on: July 04, 2015, 08:28:54 pm »

Here we share the best of the best ideas we had today. Or not, I mean, not every idea gets out of the print.
Be nice to each other, not all of your ideas were your best too.
For me, today I thought about creating this economic plan that would simply make my country the most equal of the world, then I remembered that I would never be able to pull that off without being called a socialist and get killed by corporations. Down to the level of the "Coke Tea" idea.

So, here it is, what was the not so great plan of the day?

Well i already posted it in the dream thread but why not here as well.

Had a crack dream where Sony basically turned into Nintendo.
They bought the rights to Sonic & Co along with Axiom Verge and some other nintendo equivalent IPs and just started churning out sequels... AND EVERYONE LOVED IT.

My dad's a good-humored attorney, he came up with this:

I had the idea of trying to take Jojo's Bizarre Adventure and turn it into a tabletop, D&D-esque game.

Needless to say, no progress has been made.  :P

I don't think any idea is stupid (going by the literal meaning of stupid instead of the emotional equivalent of labelling it to anything dum :I), but rather impractical, inconvenient, or totally outright not feasible for the current situation instead.

...Like this one idea about hooking a linking switch to our water tank that would check both the internal water level and the main switch for its access...before realizing I could just go upstairs and check it myself. ._.

E: This thread totally needs rules, unless it just conforms to the forum guidelines. ;)

That would be a pretty cool setting. The actual system may be a bit harder to come up with. Maybe a mix of Call of Cthulhu investigations and DnD class skills and combat? I dunno, I haven't tried making a tabletop game.

Would definitely make for a neat world setting.

Funnily enough, I've recently had the idea of fixing fighters by giving them the ability to materialize their spirit around them to serve as a sort of armour and weapons at the same time, with special abilities and being able to send it away temporarily for ranged attacks.

Then I realized how closely that resembled JoJo's stands.

Well, like I posted in the wtf thread, I briefly considered keeping a pet rattlesnake, defanged of course, in the car to deter robberies. Just hearing the snake would deter most sober assholes, hopefully. Maybe not the kids from L.A.

That, and making a mini arc furnace as described on the internet. Nothing could go wrong.

I should just post here everyday.

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

Public feeding tubes. For those too indecisive, too intoxicated or too stupid to eat at a normal restaurant without causing undue hassle for staff and fellow patrons, there should be public feeding tubes which dispense a room-temperature slurry of sugar, oats and beef stock. The model can be scaled up and down, from individual home units to an entire wall with dozens of mechanical teats servicing hundreds of barely-functional would-be customers a day. Think of the savings for restaurant owners; instead of many specialized employees, you simply need one civic servant to keep it stocked and shoo people away if they start hogging a tube!

Non-toxic hempen (or some sort of recycled paper material) floor rugs, so that after a few months/years of smoking over it and spilling [INSERT SUBSTANCE HERE] onto it, you can just roll the entire, grimy rug into a giant joint/cigarette and smoke that, too. Then replace it with a new rug and repeat the process.

Smoking a huge, grimy rug seems very confusing when coming from Yonk. The kawaii effect is strong.
