Them doomsday fellas are at it again!
« on: July 03, 2015, 06:17:46 pm »

Out of curiosity spurred by this guy on youtube who showcases the horrors of the deep web, I decided that I was going to briefly browse one of the sites. I find a site that's basically an information dump forum where crazy people say all the things that their psychiatrist tells them to seek further help for. The first board that catches my eye is one labeled "The Conspiracy". The first post on it that catches my eye is called "Sept 23rd 2015 Dark days coming". I read it and I burst out laughing. It's a bunch of madness, but I took a screenshot of the part that matters.

So! Brace yourself folks! It's definetely the end of the world THIS TIME!

Devil's advocate:

Another (yes, there is historical precedent) ultra-intense X class solar flare interacting with our atmosphere is predicted to cause massive infrastructure damage with how our current power grid is engineered.

---HOWEVER

Knowing an exact date and time when such an event will occur is beyond merely suspect.

Such a glorious world.

Rather than accept that our ability to lead society without serious complications popping up like weeds, we instead invent phantasms to attribute malice towards.

We dont need malice; incompetence is more than sufficient.

But admitting that as a species we are this faulted is too ego-destroying for many to accept. Instead, it has to be some secret group bent on keeping other people down... for poorly explained reasons.

The asshole in me wants to answer the question bluntly though:

You can find such evidence on such a button, naturally. Find such a button, and dust it for prints. That requires identifying the location of the button. If you can do that, you probably dont need to dust it for prints; the premises will likely provide enough clues to determine who or what agency installed the button, and who would have had clearance to be in the presence of such a button.  Regardless, you need access to the button to dust it for prints. Only after dusting it for prints can you collect any such fingerprint, and then test it to find out whos it was.

(In short, prove the button exists first.)

To think, less than 150 years ago you would have had to pay a shilling to gawk at the mentally ill.
This quote never stops being relevant.

In the future, they'll all self-destruct as part of government conspiracy to exterminate all the mentally unfit and all the mentally unfit sympathizes who are themselves mentally unfit.

Naw, 150 years ago it was considered socially irresponsible to allow that kind of mental illness to roam free, which is why there were things like asylums.

It wasn't that you needed to pay to see it-- nobody really WANTED to see it, and instead wanted it locked away-- VERY FAR AWAY.

(these days, we have more progressive views about what constitutes mental illness, and how to treat it. As such, we have things like the crypto-conspiracy theorists spinning yarns so wild that they cross the boundary of poe's law so many times that you cant count anymore-- and those conspiracies become part of modern popular culture, even if just as a mockery of them. Take for instance, the iconic status of the grey alien.)

If there were things like the madmen believe, there's no doubt it my mind that whatever they've come up with is wrong. If there were people like the Rothchilds or the Freemasons, don't you think that they'd want to stay secret? Something tells me that they're very happy to let people continue to believe in whatever they already do, thus preventing them from realizing the "real" truth. Or something.

To me, a more believable thing is like this:

World governments often times DO try to deceive their public. This usually happens for some very specific political reason. the former USSR in denial about its food shortages, and continuing to sell grain on the global market while it's citizens starve, and inventing scapegoats about the "local" failures.  Things like that.

When there is a bombastic absurdity, like the rothschilds or the illuminati, or whatever other shadowy cabal is popular-- it makes a perfect cover for doing something nefarious, because nobody will believe it.

Take this recent SMBC.

Allowing the mentally ill to influence the public culture at large is bad for this very reason.

Conspiracy theorists aren't mentally ill. They just have some pre-existing influence and are happy enough with what they think to avoid finding anything that would shake those beliefs.

Governments can fund shitty art, attack allies, arm gangs in your neighbourhood, kill your reporters, drug you, monitor you, doesn't matter - nothing to hide nothing to fear, conspiracies are only about squirrel piss :^)

They do exist, they're just old money so they don't have the choice of remaining on the downkey. Hell, on my way home I saw a poster for a museum that was showcasing the wealth of the Rothschilds :P
