Because he can die, or be focused. Besides, he is not better than a regular skeleton.

Thought you meant some other reason aside from him dying.

We could always Defy Death.
Let's make a captain skeleton, then we give him a buckler from another skeleton, and set him to "Don't attack enemies"

Why not just give Captain bones armour and a bow? That way he still contributes to the fight and he is relatively out of harms way.

Nonsense. We still have a bow skeleton. Just take the bow from that one and give it to the Captain bones. Sure, we'll have a single unarmed skelly but at least this way all of our guardians contribute to the fight.

Equip like so: zombie: leather armor, zombie: leather armor, skeleton with a kill:spear, buckler skeleton with a kill: spear, buckler. three other zomdies get the rusty swords and the last gets the bone bow. wish we had enough DP to summon a second bow. I'm not willing to get rid of the armor or spears for it though.

Arrange he troop with the zombies front and center, the spear skellies directly behind (slightly ofset so they can stab around the zombies), the sword skellies to the sides, and bow skellie up on a roof.
