I'm getting really bored so I am going to call this vote here, the winner of the "How Do I Do That?" Award for the Hardest Puzzles is Spacechem with 2 votes, the new category that we will be voting on is the "Muahahahaha" Award for Most Evil Villain(s), vote on your favorite and in a day or two we will see who won.

I nominate Diablo

I wish you had said favorite villain, as that would be a toss up between Kefka, Handsome Jack and Comstock. But they're all more psychopathic/insane rather than evil.

I nominate Soul Reaver

Out of context from the rest of the series, Kain comes off as a lazy evil bastard who deliberately let the world decay just so he could reign (the sequels show he has a very good justification, but we're talking single-game nominations here).

Also, yeah, maybe having several parallel categories would help things go faster. Also consider updating the OP with the results.

I nominate Borderlands 2.

Handsome Jack was a fantastically evil villain.  Calling himself the "Hero of the story" in one sentence and talking about gouging a mans eyes out with a spoon in front of his kids in the next sentence.  Loved him.

Jack was a lot of fun, but after playing BL:TPS I really don't think he was evil. Everything in BL2 can be attributed to mental instability after his encounter in the Vault. He was frequently placed in compromising situations where his only options were to do something bad or something worse, so he really can't be blamed for slaughtering the innocent in those cases. He was also constantly finding himself betrayed by the people he trusted, and having his life threatened by them, so again it's understandable that he killed in self defense and then became paranoid and was driven to pursue extreme measures in the interest of greater justice. Jack did horrible things, but for good reasons; not evil.

Maybe at the start sure, but by BL2 he had definitely graduated to full blown evil.  I don't think mental instability makes him any less evil.

Nomination the dungeon keeper from the dungeon keeper series.
A game that actually makes you actively torture, starve and murder people.

Hehe, I remember playing the original Dungeon Keeper. T'was a good game.

Only problem is, I can't get it to work on anything after XP. Guess it was designed for 9x architecture rather than the more modern .NET architecture used in Windows 2000 and later.
No, hold on. Apparently Windows 98 used the .NET architecture, and that is what Dungeon Keeper ran on. Must be some other compatibility issue.

Does it count if the player is the Bad Guy? Or does it have to be an NPC?

I played DK7 on win 7 without much of a fuss. There were crashes but i think i found a fix for them.
Also both 1 and 2 are on GoG and you can bet they work there :P

THe villain has to be an NPC, because as the player you can do what you want, it's basically user content

Dammit. Otherwise it's us as Armok in DF. Giving shreds of hope to the unfortunate while destroying them at a whim. And when it does "work", we get bored and walk away. Or create something that doesn't work, just for giggles. Or send in an adventurer to slaughter as many of them as possible, and start playing the fortress again so that we can see the full horror we've created.

So very, very evil. So very, very !fun!

Donkey Kong

He has this girl all tied up and hes chucking barrels and some of them are explosive. Hes basically a giant mutant ape on a terrorist rampage to torment Italian plumbers, who are wild about blonde women as we all know.
