So anyway, I've never played Persona.

But for some reason I keep on feeling like it's related to Shin Megami Tensei. Or maybe just because I only played Nocturne and they both have to do with evil spirits and shit. I dunno.

How far off am I?

It's a spinoff of Shin Megami Tensei.

In fact, it was based off a SMT game, Shin Megami Tensei if, that took place in a high school instead of the usual blasted ruin SMT takes place in, and it's implied that Persona takes place in the same timeline as Devil Summoner. I can't recall where I read that, though.

Oh, cool. I'm not horribly wrong then.

So how similar is Persona to Nocturne? I ask because from Google, it seems to me like Nocturne is an odd one out of the bunch.
