If you can point out some actual progressive animes I'd be real happy actually.

I keep on trying to find new interesting ones to watch but the fan service/immaturity/subtle sexism/you-get-the-idea annoys me away. Some of them are pretty good apart from that, too. Attack on Titan was pretty good and I couldn't really see any of that. I liked Ouran High School Host Club quite a bit. But Soul Eater, Sword Art Online...not as much.

And then of course there's the really long-running animes that just become formulaic after a while.

That is true. If you hadn't, I probably wouldn't have bothered making Daniel trans. This way it can just sorta be there rather than being a defining aspect of his personality or anything.

You can like something without liking everything related to it. Orson Scott Card is a dick but Ender's Game is still pretty good.

I'm just a bit rattled by any accusations of bigotry. I have.....RL problems with bigots, or used to until the last couple of years, and even now it still ticks me off when I see someone making bigoted comments, even in-universe in RPs with justifications.
