Well, Danny is trans, and since it's not the result of magic and isn't going to be reversed and done back again over and over again through the course of the show, that would make this anime progressive.

And we all know that if it's progressive, it's not anime. Unless it's incredibly and annoyingly moralizing, which also won't be happening.
