MIDWICH VALLEY (ISG)
« on: June 23, 2015, 06:34:38 pm »

Why, what an amazingly drawn fellow.
It is the dawn of your 16th birthday. Congratulations on surviving another rotation of the earth around the sun!
Unfortunately, no-one has given you a name yet. Usually this would indicate that your parents are neglectful, but since they are embarrassingly middle-class you presume they forgot at some point in the process.
You also have no identifiable interests, because you're a boring person. You like hanging posters of question marks all over your bedroom because it makes you seem mysterious instead of just boring. It really, really doesn't.
These are serious problems for a sixteen year old to face. However, you have voices to help you out. Usually hearing voices in your head issuing commands would be a very very bad thing and require medication.
However, when they want to give you a name and some interests, it's fine and probably means you're on the track to success.

Noroko Nevermore.

We study the arcane and majicks. One day we will find our first father, the legendary Null Nevermore. Until then... let's see if we can finally get that web spell right.

Smith Smith.

We just got our first car. That means we can smuggle drugs now, right? That'll make us exciting, cool, and rich, surely it will.

My god, of course. How could you possibly consider anything else?

Your name is Dash Nordberg, private eye. You are currently in your office, because your mother made a cool sign on the door saying that this is your office as a private eye. Your hobbies include solving crimes and being hardboiled. This town is full of crime, probably, and you look to solve every bit of it.
It was a mildly gloomy and drizzly Sunday afternoon in MIDWICH VALLEY, crime capital of southern England. There was one case on your desk, and by your desk you mean your phone.

You keep track of your cases through your hi-tech phone which you bought from a Chinese shop. The TECHNOIR is capable of saving up to a megabyte of hardboiled data and can call up to seven people. But it can't stop the crime from overwhelming the streets.

... Yep, this character is going to rock.

It's funny how the man with no identity spends most of his time roleplaying as other people. Or is it? You're actually Loyd Doyd, a teen with a desktop folder filled with pirated RPGs and a lot to tell you about character optimization. Not that you really like munchkining; you're much more into the drama and interesting stories that come out of games.
You've thought about a few characters for this roleplay. Noroko Nevermore the father-finding mage and Smith Smith the drug dealing teen were both coo, but unfortunately you didn't really get the time to sketch them out before the roleplay started. Still, you still have their notes on your computer. Hopefully you'll be faster. Nordberg looks interesting to play, though. So interesting you're larping as him too.
Yep. Totally not because you love trenchcoats and will take any opportunity to dress in one.

Totally.

The phone isn't lying, though. You're just really in-character even outside of roleplay sites. You should probably meet up with Akei at some point.
But first, roleplays!
Ah well. Now it's time to browse your favorite internet roleplaying site, Bay12games! A slightly niche alternative to dedicated roleplay sites and other such things, it's an interesting place with a slightly elitist atmosphere but generally if you don't rock the boat the boat will remain on the same cou--

Wait. Huh?

What do, voices? Aside from disregarding your existential crisis.

Don't think about that. It's not important. Really. Trust me. Now sign off and forget about that.

Ask the GM to make us Goku.
But goddammit, you can't risk going super-saiyan.
You shoot off a quick PM to him. Might as well not rock the boat too much.
You wait.
...

Hey, your hair turned blonde!

Oh wait. It's always blonde.

You check your profile, like you should have done a while ago. Yep, while you're a fourth-wall breaker, you don't unlock the 'Blatant Mary Sue' unlock for a few levels, let alone 'Author's Pet'. You're not sure what these are meant to do or how you're doing this, but it feels fairly natural.
Go meet up with Akei.

Oh, what a case, what a case. The Case of the Existential Crisis and Also Only Way For You To Ever Become A Super-Saiyan, Also You Feel Badly Drawn For Some Reason. You really need to trim your case titles down a tad. Hopefully Akei will have something to say about this--

Oh hell.

You have no intention of doing so. How do you get out of this one?

What grade are we in? If anything less than 12, let us control your mouth so we can lecture him about complicated trigonometric ratios.

Quote from: Me
Trigonometry is the study of angles and triangles. The focus of Trigonometry are the three magic angle to side ratios: the sine, cosine, and tangent. By comparing the ratios inherit in the sides and angles in a right triangle, it is possible to divine said sides or angles with great ease. Provided you have a basic calculator or a unit circle manipulative.

This.

Um. That might be strange.
But alright.

Man your eyes hurt. And why is this room so red all of a sudden?
Oh yeah. That'd be the blood in your eyes.
You know, you should probably find a way to deal with before you try going down a ladder. Or don't! Maybe it'll sort itself out.
