INTRO:
So, I decided to write a diary based on my experiences as the Overseer of Scourgepatch. Gods old and new, please let me survive this ordeal.

SPRING:
I entered to see a fort that has a bunch of walls around, that aren't really...

Covering anything. I spoke to the previous overseer, saying that he was just about to start the Wall project. I thanked him, and he
wished me good luck, and stumbled into some dormitory, and was replaced with a deep, gracious snore. Poor guy.

I begin my day seeing a very nice trading depot... And see that nothing would be able to get in. So I got the miners to get to work on making
the hall wider. I order the cook to make as many simple meals as possible, along with loads of booze.

Woah. So, a Black Bear wandered into the camp. One of the Drakes ripped the poor Bear's head off! I think we'll be okay, long as we keep those
drakes fed...

I noticed there are NO WEAPONS OR ARMOR IN THIS FORT! This is horrible! Not to mention there are Bears in this forest!
I've mandated the building of a furnace and forge.

***
Shit, two Black Bears have run into the fort! They stirred a bit of a scare, but both seemed to have run off.
One ran off with some seafood, the furry bastard.

Man, we've gotten a HUGE group of migrants! Our numbers are 37 now! And most of them are quite useful, to boot, including a weaponsmith
and a furnace operator! Great day today!

The monastary's finished. I'm not so sure about the viability of making religous dwarves, so I'll leave it mostly alone.
(Plus, all of that red's givin' me the heeby jeebies.)

I'm continuing making the walls. And I dicovered the trade depot is useless underground, considering that wagons aren't very good for
slopes. I will rebuild it above, ready to viciously rob trade with elves.

Oh no, someone has withdrawn from society, and took the Leatherworks! Well, I hope he finishes his little project soon...

Wow, that was quick! He made a really cool looking helmet! It's spikey and very well done. Once we have a militia, it'll make a fine helm
for a captain!

Meanwhile, I ordered the creation of the gaurd tower that the last overseer asked for. The plans look pretty solid so far.

***
Excellent! We struck Malachite Copper! We will be able to make weapons now! AXES FOR THE DWARVES!

***
Here they come. Elves. Their Treasury Master has come, and requested the broker.

The moment they dropped their goods, i ordered the Trade Depot to be destroyed. By Dwarven Law, anything dropped on the soil of a Dwarven settlement
becomes property of the Fortress. The elves looked shocked! It was too funny! We had a good laugh that evening at the new and improved HALL!

It is a little bare-bones, but it's a heck of a lot bigger, AND There are more tables and chairs now! Now I should make some beds...

Well, summer is here now! And boy are the elves upset! Let's hope they don't try to attack us soon! The walls are bigger, but still not done!

Nidilap likes Adamantine, Bituminous Coal, Garnets, Cats for their aloofness, Dwarves for their stupidity, and Swords for their Spikes and edges. When possible, he prefers to eat pizza, ramen noodles, and sushi. He absolutely detests elves and spiders. He needs MTN DEW to get through the working day.

A medium- sized creature prone to great ambition, but only when he feels like it.

The wagons can handle slopes find--it's all the trees around the entrance they couldn't take.  Glad to see the manpower shortage got fixed though... Oh! and shearing the drakes (at the farmer's workshop) produces nice rigid scaleplates (a very-hard leather) which makes nice armor too.  Drakes--armor-producers AND fortress guardians.  Why go anywhere without them?
